How to Get Rid of Hair Frizz

Transcript

So I wanted to talk to you today about fighting frizz. Frizz is the number one complaint I get from all of my clients, how do they deal with frizz. One thing that really makes your hair frizzy is whenever you do in the opposite direction that your hair grows. Whether it be brush the hair, scrunch the hair, blow-dry the hair. So as you’re doing these things, be sure to always move in the direction of your hair. As you’re blowing your hair dry, for example, you always want to go in the same direction as the hair.

That being said, you also want to do the same thing with the motion of the brush or the application of your products. For some of my curly girls, I actually suggest getting a wide tooth comb, putting the product on the comb, and then start on the bottom, and then raking it through. Sounds like a lot of work, but if you’re really concerned about frizz, there are a couple of little things that you can do to really fight that.

If you’re done styling your hair, and you still have a little bit of frizz, like we do today, what I’m going to do is, I’m going to take a nourishing oil. Just going to apply that to my hand, and I’m going to have you tilt your head to the side. And you’re going to start applying it on the tips, and you are going to work your way up. And the reason you are going to do that is it gives you an opportunity to smooth your hair from the root to the tip, so you can get rid of some of that frizz.

For me, this is the first thing I do to my hair when I’m done styling it, or the next day to see if I need to wash it again, and you can see, it gives you really beautiful nice defined curls. You could also set that into place if you wanted to, just by misting a light hairspray going in the same direction. Remember, you never want to go back up, you only want to go in the direction of your hair. It sounds simple, but these little tips are really great ways to help you to fight frizz.
