How to Do Broken Barbie Doll Makeup

Transcript

Hi, my name’s Kenneth Llambelis. I’m one of the head makeup artists at Abracadabra Superstore in the heart of New York City. You can find out more about me and the store Abracadabra at www.abracadabrasuperstore.com.

So, for the girls who want to take their more pretty looks, and take it a more kind of creepier, scary, I’m going to show you how to take a Barbie doll look, which we’ve just completed, and turn it into more of a broken doll.

I’m going to start by taking a white, cake base makeup. We’re using a Krylon aqua color kit. With the white, we’re going to extend the shape of her eye. Make it look like she has really big crazy doll eyes.

Now, after that’s done, we’re going to go in with a black color. Get a good amount of pigment on it. We’re going to outline that white circle.

And after that’s done, you’re going to want to start drawing on some fake eyelashes. The longer ones lean towards the center. The shorter ones to fade out at the ends. This will give you a really wide eye doll look.

Once that’s complete, you can start working on your cracks. We get more black paint on your brush, and for this, you can free-hand it anywhere you like. Let’s do one right across the forehead, and one big one right going down the cheek.

Start off very thin. Kind of make your way down, crack-like. Almost like a lightning bolt. Then you kind of want to go thicker, slightly towards the center. Then fade it to the ends.

After that, we’re going to take more black onto the brush. We’re going to do little semi-circles right under the bottom lids in the white. We’re just going to make her eyes look slightly larger. Also, again, using the black, I’m going to darken the brow a little bit. Just to give it more of a defined edge, and also round it out.

We’re going to go over that with a dark brown eye shadow. This is just going to go above the black line that we made on the brows.

The very, very final step, we’re going to go onto the lip, and we’re going to darken it with a black pencil. It doesn’t have to be perfect. We’re going to smudge it out a little bit.

Finally, when that’s blended out a little bit, we’re going to go in with a black cream pencil thickly and just blend the rest. And then you’ve turned your sexy, cute Barbie into a creepy, scary, broken doll.
