Hi, my name’s Kenneth Llambelis. I’m one of the head makeup artists at Abracadabra Superstore in the heart of New York City. You can find out more about me and the store Abracadabra at www.abracadabrasuperstore.com.
So for this look, we’re going to be working on an exotic mermaid. We’re gonna do it in a few quick easy steps, so if you’re going out to the mermaid parade or even just for Halloween, you can have some really awesome looking, fantabulous fish effects. We’ll start off with a ice gold loose pigment that has a little bit of glitter just to give you more of a glow. We’re going to do this all over the face. After that’s done, we’re gonna start working on the lips. We’re gonna take a deep purple lipliner, and just line the lips. After that’s done, you’re just gonna blend it out. So you’re taking your lip brush, and once you have this smoothed out, you’re gonna go over the inside with a deep purple lipstick. Just get a lot of the color onto the brush. And we’re gonna go right over that, blending in the lipliner with the lipstick. Once that’s complete, we’re gonna take a regular eye shadow brush and use an Aztec gold shimmer powder and you’re gonna go right into the center of the lip. Just blending it in with the brush. Only in the center, though. Then on the next step, we’re going to take a round fluffy brush, like so, and we’re gonna get some sun yellow pigment on there and we’re gonna use this as a forehead and nose highlight. So you’re gonna start right here in the center of the forehead, and transition out. Down the center of the nose. We’re gonna continue the face up with a blue loose pigment called Cosmic Blue by Ben Nye. And like the previous loose pigment we’re gonna use a fluffy brush, this time an angled one. And we’re just gonna blend that into the yellow. And now we’re gonna blend that with a large, fluffy brush. Once you have that done, using the same brush you used the blue pigment with, you’re gonna pick up a little bit of the dark grey. This is gonna go on the very outer edges of the blue just to contour it slightly darker. Finally when that’s all applied, we’re gonna start adding a little bit of scales. What I’ve done is I’ve mixed Mehron’s metallic loose powder with it’s waterproof mixing liquid. Nice bright, gold consistency as such. Once I’ve gotten it to the consistency that I wanted it, I’m gonna take the brush and stamp little scales on the side of her face. They don’t have to be perfect. We’re just gonna stamp them around. Little bit of a pattern. And the mermaid face is complete.
