How to Do Your Lips for Drag Queen Makeup

Transcript

Hi, my name’s Kenneth Llambelis. I’m one of the head makeup artists at Abracadabra Superstore in the heart of New York City. You can find out more about me and the store Abracadabra at www.abracadabrasuperstore.com.

Once you have your drag face complete, it’s time to move on to the lips. We’re going to take a magenta colored lip pencil. We’re going to outline the lips slightly larger than their natural shape. Again, we’re just making them slightly fuller than their natural shape. Then, taking a stiff lip pencil, we’re going to blend it towards the center. After you’ve done that, you’re going to take a red lipstick. We’ll be using Russian Red by MAC and then just getting a little bit of that color onto the lip brush. And you’re gonna blend that into the magenta color that we used prior. After that, you’re gonna do a little tiny bit of concealer around the edges just to give it a sharp crisp edge. And we’ll be working again with the Ultra White. After that, smooth it out so the makeups match. And after all that’s smoothed out, we’re gonna go onto my favorite step, the glitter. We’re going to take a clear gloss, we’ll be using lip glass by MAC and put a little bit on the back of my wrist and a little bit on the brush we’ve been working with, and then paint this over all the area that we just painted. The gloss is gonna act as a kind of stickiness to adhere the glitter that we’re about to apply to it. We’re then gonna take this red glitter that I have by Ben Nye. With the gloss still on the brush, we’re going to dip into the glitter and it will adhere to the gloss and we’ll then push it onto the lips. You can just follow in the shape that we created before, just pressing the glitter into the gloss. If you’re not happy with the outline color you chose for your lip, it’s so totally easy to just go back in and redo it with another color. So I’ve decided I’m gonna go with a red lip pencil instead and just lightly outline the shape of the lips, blending back in again into the glitter. And your drag lips are done.
