I’m going to show you now how to make fake bruises, in particular, a black eye.
So, I have this kind of a brush that I got from the Make-Up Designory that’s really great for special effects. It looks like a paintbrush. It’s soft bristles, but they have a great texture to them.
If you don’t have one of these, you can use a stipple sponge. These you can usually get in makeup stores or in Halloween stores. Or if you don’t have this available to you, there’s a filter equivalent to this that you can find in an aquarium shop or a pet store.
But I’m going to use this brush because I like it. I’m also using a Ben Nye bruising palate. Love this.
The first thing I’m going to do is get kind of a lighter red color and I’m going to put a little bit on my brush, and then I’m going to pound it out on my hand like that, so I can make sure there’s not too much product. And I’m going to stick it at the point of contact. One thing to keep in mind about bruises is that they’re irregular. They’re an irregular shape.
So I’m going to put this right here, where the point of contact would be. And also, when you’re punching somebody, you get it here, and then it seems like you get a knuckle about here, too. So, those will be our two main points of building up the bruise.
Now this is probably what you look like initially, right when you get hit, before the bruising has started. This is just a little bit of swelling and redness.
