How to Apply an Alcohol Transfer Fake Tattoo

Transcript

So, we’re going to take our alcohol tattoo transfer, and cut around the edges like so. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but it’s a little easier to work with. And these are very thin papers, so you want to be careful that you don’t rip them, coming around the edges. All right.

So, now we have our tattoo cutout, like so, and I’m just going to put that aside for a minute. As with any makeup application, it’s really important that you’re applying to clean skin. Any kind of oil from the skin will make the makeup move, so we’re going to just spritz a little bit of alcohol and clean the area that we’re going to be applying to. That’s the first step.

The type of alcohol you want to be using for a tattoo transfer is 70 percent isopropyl. You don’t want to use 90 percent because it will make the alcohol move a little too much, but that is what you do want to remove it with.

So we’re going to take a lower percentage of alcohol and we’re going to get the skin really wet, because we want that paper to stick. Got my alcohol, I’m going to grab my paper, and I’m going to wet this, get it really, really wet, and then you’ll have to move quickly because the alcohol evaporates. Ink side down, onto the skin, and I’m just going to press that on. And I’m going to go over it with the alcohol and just press. You want the ink to get onto the skin. And while you’re doing this, you don’t want the paper to ever dry out. It’s a little bit difficult the larger the tattoo.

So that’s all pressed down. Everything’s wet, and now we’re going to pull it off really quickly. And there we have it.

So that is the first step to the tattoo application. If you’re happy with the way the transfer came out, you can leave it like this or you can move on to the next step.
