Hi, I’m Colleen from The Lanyard Ladies, and in order to make a friendship bracelet, the first knot you need to know how to do is the forward knot.

So the first thing we need to do is to take our string, we put a knot in the to of the string, and then we attach it to our cardboard. We put a slit at the top of the cardboard, and we put a slit at the bottom of the board, and we attach the string. We like to add a piece of tape to the back to hold the string in place. And we’re going to take one of these strings and put it in the slit at the bottom of the board, and attach it to our clipboard. Now we’re actually ready to begin making a forward knot. The forward knot is the number 4.

You can put a 4 on the board to remind you of what the knot looks like, as you go along. You take the end of the string you’re making the 4 with, tuck it under the center string, into the loop of the 4, and you pull it out. And you just continue to do this. Tuck this underneath, into the loop, and you pull it out. This forward knot is used to make the basic candy stripe friendship bracelet, as well as the V. So once you master this forward knot, you should be able to get started on actually making a friendship bracelet. So once again, we’re doing a 4, you tuck in the end of the string underneath into the center of that blue 4, and you pull it up. And this is how you make the forward knot.

Heidi Cohen: Hi, I’m Heidi.

Colleen Demas: And I’m Colleen. And we are the Lanyard Ladies. We do friendship bracelet and lanyard birthday parties, and all special events.

Heidi: We’ve taken an old craft, and we’ve re-invented it. We teach children how to make friendship bracelets and lanyard bracelets. We teach all different patterns and show you easy step-by-step ways to make your favorite bracelets. We’ve also come out with our craft kit, which includes an instructional DVD can you can follow along that will show you how to make your favorite patterns.

Colleen: Heidi and I met two years ago at summer camp, where we were both teaching the kids at camp how to make the friendship bracelets and lanyard bracelets. Heidi said, “You know, this would be great to do at birthday parties.” And I’m like, “Yeah, yeah, yeah. That’s a lot of work.” But by the time the summer was ended, Heidi convinced me that we should be doing birthday parties, and here we are today.

I’m going to show you how to read the pattern for this diamond friendship bracelet. It uses 12 strings, folded over at the top, and separated out according to the color pattern that they show you on the actual pattern. So it’s a white, it’s a pink, it’s a green and a red, and a green and a black, and it’s the same from the other side.

The first thing you want to notice when working with patterns is you’re always working with two strings at a time, the first two strings. This pattern shows me here, this pick arrow in the down position, that’s telling me it’s a backward knot, so I’m going to make a backward knot, two backward knots on the white string, and you’re going to put them back into the slots. The next stitch it tells you it’s the same thing. You’re going to pick up the next two strings, and you’re doing a backward knot, a red onto the green string.

That’s one, that’s two. And the next two strings it’s the green and the black we’re working with, so we take them out, and it’s showing you an arrow down to the left, that’s a backward knot, with the black onto the green. So the circle of color is actually what the knot should look like when it’s completed. So we got a black knot. And now we’re going across, we’re going to pick up the next two strings, which is the other green and black, and now the arrow is pointing down to the right, so that’s telling me that’s a forward knot, so I’m going to make my forward knot. Then we pick up the next two strings, the red and the green, and you look at the pattern, and it tells you a red arrow down to the right, which means a forward knot, a red knot onto the green.

That’s one, that’s two, and we tuck them in. And then the last two knots, it’s the pink, and there’s two strings, the pink and the white, we’re going to go, right here it shows you down to the right, so that’s a forward knot. That arrow down means forward, and then you tuck them back in. And what I like to do as I go along, because now I completed that first row of knots, I like to put just a little mark, you could see I did that over here when I was doing my pattern to make that bracelet, so I can keep track of I did that complete row. So now I’m looking at the second row. Now this second row has this pink string just sticking out to the left like that, which means you don’t do anything with that string, you skip that string, and you move on to the next two.

So we’re taking out the white and the red, and that red arrow down to the left is telling me I take the red one, and I do a backward knot on top of the white, so that’s two backward knots on top of the white. Let me tuck down back in again. We take out the next two. We have green and black, and we’re doing a backward knot, the black onto the green. Let me tuck them in. Now we have the two greens, and again the arrow is down to the left, so that’s a backward knot on top of each other. And again the backward knot is the letter D, and you tuck them in. Now we have the black, now the arrow’s pointing down to the right, so that’s telling me it’s a forward knot.

So that’s the key to reading patterns, is understanding the arrows and what it actually means. So the arrow down to the right is a forward knot. Now the next two is the red and the white, and we’re doing a forward knot down, red onto the white, forward knot. One, that’s two, and we’ll tuck these back in. And because the pink is sticking out again on the right side, like this, that means you skip that string, and you move on. You don’t touch those two strings on that second row. Actually if you’ll notice, every row, every other row will be eliminating the outer most string. So the next, we can mark off that we did it, you do it over here again, that’s the second row. You completed that second row across, so you mark that you did it, just to keep track of where you are.

So now we know we’re on the third row of knots, and here you’ll see we’re going to pick up the pink and the red and do our knot down to the left, which is a backward knot of the red onto the pink. Another red stays on the outside. Next one is the black and the white, it’s a backward knot, the arrow’s down to the left, so we do the letter D, make a black know on the white. Okay, now we’re just going to continue following the pattern in the same way we’re doing it, following the arrows, forward knot, forward knot, forward knot. And then the red on the outside means you leave the red out, you don’t include that in that row of stitches. As you go into the pattern, you will see in certain spots, right here and right here, that the arrows begin to change.

This pink, it has an arrow down, and an arrow this way. So what this is telling me, is that when I get to this twelfth row, I have to do a backward knot, and then a forward knot, with the same string. So that’s what that arrow means, backward knot, forward knot, and that would account for the two knots on that green string. Same thing here for the red, in the next location, it will be a backward knot and a forward knot onto that green string, so that’s what those arrows mean. Here, the two blacks together is just one backward knot down in that direction, the black and the black. So it’s all about reading these little circles and different knots when you make a friendship bracelet from a pattern. And this is how you read a pattern in order to make a friendship bracelet.

Hi, I’m Colleen form the Lanyard Ladies, and I’m going to share with you today the top six supplies that you need to make a friendship bracelet. The first would be the embroidery floss. This is the main ingredient. First you have to open up the skein, and you have to find the end. Once you find the end, it’s a good idea that you wind all of the floss around the bobbins that come in the package when you buy your embroidery floss. The floss can be purchased at any local craft store. The next thing we need is a piece of cardboard. We have this fancy cardboard, but you don’t have to have something so fancy. You can use a shoe box or a paper plate even.

That will work for you just the same. We like to use the cardboard to hold the string in place as we’re making our bracelets. The next thing we will use is some tape. Again, the tape helps us hold the string on the board, and the tape also can work to hold your bracelet onto a hard surface if you don’t want to use a piece of cardboard. We also have a clipboard. We take our cardboard, and we clip it to the clipboard to hold down our work as we go. Lastly, we have scissors. You can’t cut string unless you have scissors. And then we have a safety pin. The safety pin you’ll need because as we make bracelets, you’ll find yourself making knots, and this is the tool to take out your knots. So these are the six items you need to make a friendship bracelet.

Hi, I’m Colleen from the Lanyard Ladies, and today I’m going to show you how to make a lanyard person. The lanyard person is made in steps. The first step is going to be to make the arms. The arms, you will need two sets, four pieces of lanyard about 15 inches long, and you’re going to find the center, and you’re going to start the arms like you were starting a box stitch. I always like to put the white on the bottom. And you’re going to take the white lanyard from the bottom, and you fold it over in one direction.

And this other white folds in the opposite direction. Then you’re going to take the blue and go over the first white and under the second. And you’re going under the closed side of the white. And this blue goes over the first white and under the second, under the looped side of the white, and you pull it in. Two strings in each hand, and you pull it to form the box. the first stitch is always a box stitch. Now I’m going to take this from here and start the barrel stitch, which is going to turn into the arms. So you take the first blue, fold it over in the opposite direction to the right of the other blue. And the left blue goes up to the left side of the first blue.

And now you take your white, and you go over the first and under the second, and you’re going under the closed side because that’s what’s going to form the barrel. Over the first blue and under the second. And you’re going to continue this. You make eight barrel stitches to complete the arm, and then when you’re done you tie a knot. Then you’ll do the second arm. So we already have our arms made right here. The next step is to make the head. For the head I’m gong to need four pieces of lanyard, about 20 inches in length. And you’re going to find the center and take, I use the white one the end, and I cross it underneath the other three pieces.

And I start again. This is like starting a multi-box. You fold the white over in the opposite direction, and this white goes over in that opposite direction. And you start weaving the purple. Starting with the purple, because I’m going to go under the closed side of this white one. Over and under. And this purple goes over and under. Now we take the blue. We’re going to go over and under. And this blue goes over the first white and under the second. And now this pink is going to go over the first white and under the second one. And this pink is over the first white and under the second. Now you take the side strings, three in each hand, then the white ones, and you pull to the side. Pull the white. You pull to the side. And you pull the white until it forms a box. Sometimes it doesn’t always come out so nice at first, but you wiggle it into place. Look at that. It looks beautiful. There’s your starting stitch. So from here, you’re going to continue doing your barrel. So this white is going to come down to the right of this white, and this goes up to the left. And I’m going to start weaving under this white here, because that’s the closed loop. So the purple’s going over the first and under the second white. And this purple comes over the first and under the second. Now the blue. Over the first, under the second. And this blue comes over the first white and under the second.

Now we’re going over the first and under the second. And over the first and under the second. And we’re going to pull all these strings together. Okay. Now this is the second stitch. You’re going to do eight stitches of these as well to create the head. And here I have eight stitches of the head already completed. So now we’re going to attach the arms. Once you have your eight barrel stitches done, you need to attach the arms. So you turn it upside down. And the first thing you’re going to do is you’re going to take one of the arms. You’re going to put it on the outside of this white string, and you pull it down. The reason I say outside, because when we move this over, if it was on the inside it would get in the way of making the rest of the body for the boxes. So that’s the outside of that white string, and this blue one is going to do the same on this side. I’m going to feed it along on the outside. If you have a hard time getting the lanyard through the arm, you can always cut a little point on the end to help you through.

Okay. So now we have our arms attached. We’re going to continue now with the box stitch, because the body is the box stitch. So you’re going to start looping the whites, one in one direction and one in the other. And we start weaving the side stitches, over the first and under the second. Again, I’m going under the closed white one because if I went under this one it would just fall off the side of the person. This pink, we’re going to go over the first white one and under the second. Pull the white. You pull the sides. You pull the white. You pull the sides. So that’s our first box stitch. So you’re going to continue with that box stitch to finish the body. Again, you’re going to do eight of them. Eight’s the magic number with this lanyard person. So here we have the head, the arms, and eight stitches of the body. So from here, all we need to do now is to complete the legs. I like to do Chinese staircase for the legs. So I will separate the strings. Because you have eight here, I’m separating and putting four on one side and four on the other. And I’m going to make a pink leg because this side of the body’s pink and the arm is pink.

So I’m going to stick with the pinks on this side. So I’m going to start with my Chinese staircase, making your Ds. And you’re pulling it up. And you’re continue with this until the leg is proportionate to the size of the body and the arms. Okay. I think we’ll do two more, and now we’re going to put a knot. And knot kind of serves as the foot. So you take this side, and you make a big knot. And you tighten it up close to the Chinese staircase. And you can cut off your strings. And there’s your first leg. So now you’re going to do the same for the second leg. You’re going to make Ds. I’m going to make a blue leg on the left side of this lanyard person. And that’s how to make a lanyard person.

How to Make a Triple Rainbow Loom Bracelet https://howcast.com/videos/514001-triple-rainbow-loom-bracelet-bracelet-patterns/ Thu, 12 Sep 2013 18:43:08 +0000 https://howcast.com/videos/514001-triple-rainbow-loom-bracelet-bracelet-patterns/

Hi, I’m Heidi from the Lanyard Ladies, and today I’m going to show you how to make a triple single rainbow loom bracelet. And this is what it looks like when it’s done. So let’s get started. You’re going to need your rubber bands and your hook and your rainbow loom. You’re going to need four different colors to make this bracelet. Make sure that the arrows are facing away from you. I’m going to start with the pink.

Now you’re going to hook your pink on each peg all the way across. So whatever color you choose, just go straight across until you get to the end. Just keep hooking them just like that. I’m going to take my second color, and I’m going to go into the middle pegs. Now you’re going to take your third color, and you’re going to do the same thing that you did with the other two. Now you’re going to take your fourth color, and I’m going to use the black because that’s going to be like a border. You’re going to skip the first three pegs. And we’re going to make this like a triangle just like that. It should be facing the opposite of your red arrow. And you’re going to do that all the way across. Just keep making these, just like that. the easiest way to do that is to pull straight across and one down.

That’s what it will look like when you’re done. Now you’re going to take your rainbow loom, and you’re going to turn it around. And I’m going to start from this row. And we’re going to take our tool. We’re going to go underneath the black. Grab onto your rubber band, and hook it to your next peg. Now the second one is a little tricky, because you’re going to go underneath all the black. You’re only looking for the blue. Grab your blue out and hook it to the next peg. And you’re going to do the same thing all the way across. Pull them back. Grab your blue out, and hook it to the next peg. Now you’re going to go to the middle, and you’re going to do the same thing. You’re going to grab the yellow, and you’re going to hook it on. Go to the next one, and just keeping hooking. The middle row is the easiest row, because there’s no black in the way. So you can actually just see it easier, and you can just hook right across. So you’re going to do the same thing all the way across. Continue grabbing the rubber band from underneath the peg, pulling it onto the next. And now we’re going to do the last row, same thing.

Go in, grab your pink underneath the black, and go to the next peg. Go underneath the black. Dig down. Get the pink, and pull it onto the next peg. Push the black away. Grab the pink. And you just continue doing this all the way until you get to the end. So now you’ve gotten to the end. And when you’re at the end, the last three colors, you’re going to go over here, and you’re going to take the blue off at the end. And you’re going to hook that onto the middle, just like that. And you’re going to take the pink, and you’re going to do the same thing. Grab that on and hook both rubber bands onto the middle, just like that. Now you’re going to take a rubber band. You’re going to put your hook all the way through all the rubber bands. Make it come out the side. Hook your rubber band on, and pull it through all of them. And hook your pink rubber band on there. Now you’re going to pull your rubber bands off.

Just pull them off like that. And there you have your single, triple rainbow loom. But now you need an extension, because it’s not long enough to fit your wrist. So we’re going to turn our loom back around with the arrows facing that way. And again, we’re going to use six rubber bands. I’m going to use pink for mine. Turn it back around. Take your rubber bands off your tool. Put it onto the last peg, and stretch that out to the next peg, just like that. And your bracelet is there. And now starting hooking again. Grab that one off your peg, and hook it to the next peg. And just keep hooking until you get to the end. Now we’re going to get a C clip. And you’re going to take the other side of your bracelet, and you’re going to attach the other side to your C clip just like that. And now you have a triple rainbow loom bracelet.

Hi, I’m Heidi from The Lanyard Ladies, and today I’m going to show you how to make a single rainbow loom bracelet. What you’ll need is your rainbow loom, and different variety of colors of rubber bands, and you’ll need your hook.

You start off, make sure that the red arrow is facing away from you. Start off with your rubber bands and hook one onto that one, then on top of that, and you’re going to keep hooking your rubber bands onto your loom all the way across, until you get to the end. You can use any colors you want, any patterns you want, and you’ll just keep hooking them on, just like this. So make all the way to the end. Now when you get to the end, you’re going to take your loom, and you’re going to turn it around. So now the arrow is on the other side. Now you’re going to take your hook, and you skip the first peg that you have here, go to the second peg. You’re going to take your tool, you’re going to wrap, grab on to the pink rubber band, pull it out, and wrap it around to the next one.

Go to your next peg, take the red rubber bands, wrap it around to the next one. Next rubber band, pull it out, wrap it to the next one. You continue doing this until you get all the way to the end, and all your rubber bands hooked on. Go get the next one. This is a good way to practice before you start learning how to do harder ones. Hook it on, and put that on. Now when you get to the end, your bracelet is not going to be long enough for your wrist, so we’re going to have to add an extension line, and the way you do that is you’re going to take one rubber band, you’re going to go to the end, we’re going to stick our hook all the way in, okay, you’re going to put your hook through, take your rubber band, pull it through, hook it on.

Now you’re going to pull your rubber bands off. And you could see it’s not long enough to fit your wrist yet. So we’re going to turn our loom back around, I’m going to add about six more rubber bands, so this way it can fit your wrist. You grab your different colors, two, three, four, five, and six. Now you’re going to flip your loom back around, take your hook that has your two rubber bands on it, attach it to the last peg, and let the rubber band loose. Now take, keep your bracelet on the side, take your tool, go in, and just keep hooking your rubber bands on, until you get to the end, and now we just extended the bracelet. When we get to the end, we’re going to use a c clip to hold our bracelet in place, and the last rubber band. Now we’re going to take a c clip , and we’re going to hook it on to the last rubber band. So you hook one end of your c clip, and then go to the other end of your bracelet, and hook the other hand into your c clip, just like that. And there you have a single stitch rainbow loom bracelet, like I’m wearing.

Hi, I’m Colleen from The Lanyard Ladies, and today I’m going to show you how to do the zipper stitch with lanyard. You will need three pieces of lanyard, and we could tie a knot at the top. The color that you’re zipping with, you probably should cut a little bit longer because you will lose it as you go.

This is a sample of the zipper stitch. We’re going to start, and I’m going to zip with this green. So you want to go over, it’s a weaving stitch, you’re going to go in and out. You’re going to go over the purple and under the blue. Now you go over the blue and under the purple, over the purple and under the blue, and you just pull it tight as you go, over and under, over the purple and under the blue, over the blue and under the purple, over the purple and under the blue. And you’ll have to pull that, the zipping color, out in-between these two, because they want to wind around the other string at the bottom as you go, so you’ll have to separate them occasionally, so it doesn’t end up all knotted.

So you’re going over the purple and under the blue, over the blue and under the purple, over the purple and under the blue. And see what happens here, it gets caught up under in the bottom so you just pull this out, and keep going around and under, around and under, around and under. And this is what we call the zipper stitch. So you could actually tie this one on your wrist as a bracelet, because this kind of looks like a cool bracelet, you could tie it behind like this. So that’s how you make a zipper stitch out of lanyard.

Hi. I’m Colleen from the Lanyard Ladies, and today I’m going to show you how to make a spiral stitch with lanyard. I find this to be one of the most difficult stitches. So you’re going to need two pieces of lanyard, probably 20 inches in length. You’re going to take one of the colors and wrap it around the other color in the center. Crisscross it around like this. Now you’ll notice that these two strings are a little bit closer together than these two strings. So I’m going to take this high pink one. I’m going to call this the high one because this is a little lower. I’m going to wrap it around the back of the green in between these two strings on the right side and fold it down in front. This is actually a weaving stitch. So now we have the high on this side. You have a high and a low, and these two are close together. You’re always going to take the high stitch. Take the high pink around the back. Separate these two, and fold it over top of the other pink and down in front. And you pull it tight. Now our high string is on this side.

Now it’s a green. So you take this high green one around the back. Separate these two strings and fold it down in front. And you pull it tight and separate it. Now your high’s on the right. So you’ll notice the high is rotating from right to left, from right to left. And it’s going to rotate from different colors. So now your green is the high one. Bring it around the back in between these two and down in front. Okay. Now your high’s over here. Wrap this around the back. Separate the two on the right, and down in front. Fold it, and pull it tight. Now we got the high on the right. Around back, separate the two on the left. Fold this down in front, and pull it tight. Around the back. Separate, and down in front. Around the back. Separate, and down in front. Around the back.

Separate, and down in front. The problem with this stitch is that once you start, you can’t really put it down. It’s very difficult. You’ll lose it, and it will unravel and start opening. So you’ll see here, I use a paper clip to hold one that I previously started just in that manner. So we can keep going here. Go around the back. Separate and down in front. So you’ll keep doing this until it’s the desired length that you’re looking for. My samples here, I have this. It’s my ankle bracelet. And I also have a necklace that I wear in spiral. And I have a keychain. So this is a pretty functional stitch. You can do very different things with it. But it is, again, very difficult. One more time, I’ll show you. You take the high one around the back. Separate the two left strings, and down in front. The high one’s on the left now, the green. Around the back. Separate the two on the right, and fold this down in front. And this is how you make the spiral stitch with lanyard.

Hi, I’m Colleen from The Lanyard Ladies, and today I’m going to show you how to do the multibox pattern. You’ll need four pieces of lanyard, about 40 inches, and you’re going to fold them in half and find the centers. One of the strings you want to turn sideways and place it underneath the other three strings. This is going to be the strings on the side. This is what it looks like when it’s completed actually, the multibox. This happens to be a 5 box, I’m only working on a 3 box. We have three strings here, so that’s three boxes. So it’s just like starting the regular box, I put the white on the bottom, and that’s the one I’m going to loop with.

I put my thumb on top, I keep the other strings in between my thumb and my forefinger, and I’m going to loop the white in one direction, and I loop the white over in the other direction. And then what I do is I just start weaving the side colors. So this purple, I’m going to start with this one, because I’m noticing that this is open, and this side is closed, so I’m going to go under that first closed side with my purple string, over the first and under the second. And now I’m going to take the other purple string, and go back in the other direction, over the first white and under the second. Now the blue, over the first and under the second, and this blue comes back over the first and under the second. And now we got the green, over and under, and this green goes over and under. Then you’re going to grab all six strings, three in each hand, and the white ones in the thumb and the forefinger, and you pull it together. You pull the sides, you pull the white ones, you pull the sides, you pull the white, until you see that you get this box pattern that has started for you. That’s the first step, this is how to start.

Now we’re just going to keep going like that. You’re going to take this white, you make a loop in the opposite direction, and this white loops over in the opposite direction. And now I see my closed side over here, because this side is open. I’m going to start with my purple again, only on this side, I’m going to go over the first and under the white the second on this side. And then I take this purple, I go over the first white and under the second. And this blue, over and under, pull through, this blue goes over in the opposite direction, over the first white, under the second. Now we do the green, over and under, and over and under, and then you’re going to pull again, six strings, and then the two whites, you pull the sides, you pull the whites, you pull the sides, and you pull the whites till it forms your box, and you’re going to keep doing this. Over and under, over and under.

Over and under, this blue goes over and under. The green over and under, this goes over and under, and you pull your strings. Okay, so this is what it looks like after we did three patterns, three stitches, so you’ll continue to do as many stitches as you would like, to get it to the length that you wanted to be. These are mostly key chains, and this is how you do the multibox pattern.

Hi, I’m Colleen from The Lanyard Ladies and today I’m going to show you how to do the barrel stitch. I’ve done a few stitches already so it’s easier for me to show you how to do it. So we’re going to be looping with the blue and you’re going to take your blue. It’s coming out of this side of the barrel. And you’re going to place it down to the right side as I’m looking at it of the other blue. And this blue goes up to the left of the first blue. And then you’re going to take your side strings and go over the first and under the second just like you were doing in a box. And you want to go under the closed portion of the barrel stitch right here so it doesn’t fall off the barrel. And this one is going to go over the first blue and under the second in the looped portion and that will give you the barrel.

The barrel stitch is actually the box stitch on an angle. So if you can do the box, you should be able to angle it and do the barrel. Again you’re taking your blue in the opposite direction, but you’re placing it to the right of the other blue. And the second blue goes up to the left of the first blue. And now you’re just going to weave the side line strings over the first blue and under the second into the looped portion. And the same with the other one. Over the first, and under the second. And you pull all four strings together to form your barrel. Once in a while the strings are going to twist. That’s fine. You just have to pull it through and flatten it out and get that twist out of there.

So I’ll show you one more time. The blue comes down, looped to the right of this other blue string, and this one goes up to the left. Now you take your side string and you’re going to go over the first blue and under the second. And this orange string goes over the first and under the second. And you pull all four together, forming your barrel. This is what it looks like if you continue to go a little bit longer. You can actually put a hook like this on this piece and you could use it as a zipper pull or you could keep it like this and go longer and make it a key chain. So that’s how you do the barrel stitch with lanyard.

Hi. I’m Colleen from The Lanyard Ladies and I’m going to show you today how to make a box pattern with lanyard. I’ve already done some so it’s easier for me to teach you how to do it, so I can hold on to something. So you’re going to start with your yellow or whatever case, whatever color you’re working with. It’s coming out this side of the box. I’m going to fold it over in the opposite direction and make a small loop. And you do the same with this yellow. Fold it over in the opposite direction making a small loop.

Then you take your side colors and you will go over the first yellow and under the second. Again you’re going under the closed side of the loop because if you look at this yellow, it’s open on this side but it’s closed over here so you’re going under the closed side of the loop. Then you take the other pink over the first yellow and under the second. And you take all four strings and pull them into place to form the box. And you can keep doing it. Stick with the yellow. We’ll go yellow loop in this direction and a yellow loop in the opposite direction.

I think it’s easier to keeping looping with the same colors until you really get the pattern down. And then you take your side color over the first yellow, under the second. And this side. This pink goes over the first and under the second. And you pull all four strings into place. I find it also easier when I’m first learning to do a pattern to use the same colors as the demonstrator is using so it makes it easier to follow. So we’re going to make a yellow loop in this direction, and this goes over in the opposite direction. And we’re going to go over the first yellow and under the second. And this pink goes over the first yellow and under the second. And we pull all four together to form the box. Now if you keep doing this, you’ll end up with something that looks like this. This is a box stitch pattern. And that’s how you make a box stitch out of lanyard.

Hi, I’m Heidi from The Lanyard Ladies, and today I’ll be showing you how to make a king cobra out of lanyard.

So in order to make your king cobra, you would have to start off by making your cobra stitch. You need to make it approximately two or three inches down, so you have to know how to make your cobra stitch, and then when you’re halfway down, you’re going to turn your cobra upside down. Take the two long remaining pieces, and you’re going to fold your strings down, and you’re going to start making the cobra on top of what you already made. You’re going to leave those two out. Start making a loop down, around the back, through the big loop, the same pattern that you used to make a regular cobra.

But your king cobra is going to get thicker and thicker, you can go two or three times if you wanted to. Go around the back, through the big loop, pull to the top, and tighten. So you’re doing a cobra on top of a cobra, purple goes across, green goes down, around the back, through the big loop, pull across, and tighten, and you’ll see you cobra getting thicker. Always purple across, purple across, green around the back, pull both cords together, and tighten. Now you can see it’s getting thicker on top of the original cobra stitch that you made, around the back, and tighten, purple goes across, green goes down, around the back, pull both cords, and tighten.

You keep doing this till you cover the entire plain regular cobra that you did. And you can go back over this again, it will just keep getting thicker and thicker, hold tight, cross, down, around the back, tighten, cross, down, around the back, tighten. If you turn it over the other side will be green. I’m working with the purple. Tighten. Just keep doing the same pattern, and this is your king cobra, because it’s just going to keep getting thicker. Now if you wanted to, you can turn it back round again, and you can make it even thicker, just make the same pattern back over what you were doing. Purple goes across, green goes down, and this will make it even thicker, and across.

Purple goes across, green goes down, around the back, and now you see it’s getting even wider, and pull both together. You can make these as long as you want, and as thick as you want, depends how many times you go back over it. You could stop in the middle, you could make very cool patterns with this, and around. And you can just keep going. And this is a sample of what it looks like when it’s done. And that’s how you make a king cobra out of lanyard.

Hi, I’m Heide from The Lanyard Ladies. Today I’m going to show you how to make a twisted cobra lanyard. You’re going to need two pieces of plastic lacing of your lanyard, and about 60 inches in length. Take your lanyard, and you’re going to fold it in half evenly at the ends. Take a key ring, put your tow loops through, and pull your lanyard through, and pull down. Now you’re going to put one string of each color in the middle, and the two on the outside. Now to make your twisted cobra, you’re always going to be making on the same side.

So you’re going to make a loop across, your white’s going to go down, and you’re going to pull through that loop, and pull two strings together. Always work with the left side, so I just went across with the left, now the white is on the left side. I’m going to do the same thing, white goes across, blue goes down through your loop, and pull both, always working with the left side, and it’s going to start to twist. Now the green, down, around the back, pull both, now your white is your left side, always the left side. If you feel more comfortable starting with the right side, you can do that. Whichever side you pick is the side that you have to keep looping with, and soon a pattern will start to form.

Green goes across, white goes down around the back, and pull across. Now it’s starting to twist, white goes across, down, around the back, and pull tight. Always the left side, no matter what color’s on that side, you’re always just going to work with the left, and it’s going to start to twist. A few more stitches and you can see how it’s going to start twisting. Just remember you go across, white goes down over it like a plus sign around the back, with a big loop, and pull both of them tight together. Sometimes you have to just wiggle it in place, white goes around, The back, and pull them together, and you’re starting to get a twisting pattern. It’s going to go around, across, reel it into place, and pull tight, around the back, and keep pulling. And now it’s starting to twist. And if you keep going like that, it’ll look like this. And that’s how you make a twisted cobra out of lanyard.

Hi, I’m Heidi from The Lanyard Ladies, and today I’ll be showing you how to make a cobra stitch out of Lanyard. You’re going to need two pieces of lanyard, approximately 60 inches in length. You’re going to take your lanyard, and you’re going to fold it over. You’re going to take a key ring, you’re going to put it through, twist your lanyard onto your key ring. You’re going to take your two colors, you’re going to put two colors in the middle, and two on the outside, so you’re going to choose whichever colors you want. I like to put one of each color in the middle, and one on the outside. You start by going left. I’m going to go left, and then cross over. Second string, the green, is going to go down around the back through the loop that you made, and then you’re going to pull both pieces together.

Now your purple is on this side, you’re always going to be working with your purple, purple goes across, green goes down around the back, through the loop, and pull it across. Now your purple’s on your left side, always with the purple, this way your green is going to be your border, and the purple is going to be in the middle. Make a loop down around the back, through the loop, pull it together, purple goes across, green goes down around the back, and then pull together. And you’ll see a pattern starting of your cobra, purple across, again, purples on this side. It’s easy to remember when you work with two different colors, whatever color you start with, that’s the color you’re going to loop across, purple always loops across, green goes down around the back.

What’s cool about the cobra stitch is that even though we’re doing purple across, and your purple is going to be in the middle, if you turn it over, now your green is in your middle, so you can wear the bracelet either way, or use it as your key chain, you can have it as purple across, or the green. Purple always goes across, green arounds, pull both of them together. And you just keep following this pattern, as long as you want to make it. And this is what it’ll look like when you’re done. And that’s how you make a cobra stitch out of lanyard.

Hi, I’m Heidi from The Lanyard Ladies and today I’ll be showing you how to make the butterfly stitch out of lanyard. You’re going to need two pieces of lanyard, two different colors that are about 30 inches in length. You’re going to take the two pieces and you’re going to start off by tying a knot at the top. Then you’re going to take your colors.

You’re going to start with one color. I’m going to start with the white and make a loop. Go around that loop with your other color. Make another loop and pull it through. Starting this bracelet is a little difficult but once you get two or three stitches in, you’re good. And then you pull down. Now you have a green loop. You’re going to take the white, make another loop, put it through the green. And then you’re going to pull down on the green and tighten it. So I’m making a butterfly stitch just by making one loop into another loop. Now you’re going to make a green. Make a green loop, pull it through, pull down on the white really tight, and soon a pattern will start to form. Make another loop. The white goes into the green now. Pull down.

Now sometimes as you’re doing it your loops are going to get a little large, so you just slowly pull it down so it’s easier to work with. Now we’re into green. The green is going to go into the white and then you’re going to pull down and you’re going to tighten it. Now you’re going to make a white loop into the green, pull down, and tighten it. And you can see a pattern is starting to form. Green, into the white, pull down. Tighten it. White goes into the green. And you’re just going to keep alternating back and forth with your two colors and your butterfly stitch will start to form. Another loop. Pull down. White loop into the green loop. Pull down. Green into the white. And pull down. And now you can see the pattern forming. And here’s a sample of what it will look like if you keep going. So you can keep going until it fits your wrist or you can make it into a keychain. And that’s how you make a butterfly bracelet out of lanyard.

Hi. I’m Heidi from the Lanyard Ladies, and today I’m going to show you how to make a tunnel out of lanyard. You’re going to need three colors and one clear. The clear is going to go on the outside. The clear needs to be 60 inches long, and your colored lanyard needs to be 30 inches long. So you’re going to be working with a very long string, the 60-inch piece, the piece that’s going to go around. Take your lanyard, and you’re going to fold it in half. Line them all up at the top, and then fold them in half. You’re going to take your keyring, and you’re going to put it through, and you’re going to tie it together. Just make a regular knot with all of the lanyard together.

And pull the longest one through, and tie it really tight. Now pull all the lanyards straight down. And take the clear that’s the longest one, and you’re going to twist it around. Keep twisting with one hand, and the other hand you’re wrapping the clear around. So you’re twisting. You’re going to get twisted effect through the clear. And just keep twisting and twisting it around. It looks really cool when it’s done. And people won’t figure out how you did it. But it’s really simple. You’re basically just wrapping the clear around all the colors. Now if it ‘s too hard for you to use both your hands and twist at the same time, you can also take the clear and just wrap it around.

Just keep wrapping it and wrapping it, and you’re still going to get the same effect. But don’t let go, because if you let go the whole thing will unravel. So just keep going, and wrap it and wrap it. And if you want, you can also clip it to your clipboard if it ‘s too hard for you to hold it in the air and do it. And you can wrap it that way. Just keep wrapping it around. Every once in a while it might get a little bit tangled, and you’ll just have to work with the strings and untangle them. And just keep wrapping it around. And then you can go back to holding it in your hand. And you can make this as long or as short as you want. It’s a very cool keychain.

So you could stop whenever you want. But it goes quicker the more practice you have, the faster you can do it. And when you get to the end and you’re ready to stop, you just take all your lanyard and tie a basic knot. And make sure you pull really, really, really tight. The plastic lacing will stretch, and it will look like this. And you can take your scissor, and you cut of the excess. And that’s how you make a tunnel with lanyard.

Hi, I’m Heide form The Lanyard Ladies, and today I’m going to show you how to make Chinese Staircase out of lanyard. So the materials that you’ll need today, you can use a clipboard to help you, if it will make things easier, or you can hold it in your hand to make it. You’re going to need five colors, approximately 30 inches in length you’re going to cut. It’s going to look like this when it’s done, and you’re going to make a key chain out of it. So you’re going to need a ring, or even a little clip holder.

You take your five strings, and you’re going to fold them in half. Today I’m going to be using a ring, take the ring, and you’re going to put your strings through the ring, and you can tie a knot with them, all five strings, and you pull it through, make it really tight, and push all the lanyard down. And you start with any color that you want, and your first colors, I’m going to start with this light pink, you’re going to make a D to start. This is the letter D, you’re going to take the tail end of the D, you’re going to put it around the back through the big loop of the D, hold all of your strings, you’re going to pull to the top, and you’re going to tighten.

And you’re going to continue this pattern, you’re going to make a D, the tail end goes around the back, through the big look, and you’re going to pull to the top, and you’re going to tighten. You’re going to do about 10 stitches with each color, and you’re going to change to the next color. And if you want to make it easier, if you have a clipboard, if it’s hard to hold it, you can clip it onto your board, and continue making a D. You can make the D around the back, through the big loop, pull to the top, tighten one stitch under the next, around the back, and tighten. And you just keep making your Ds, pull to the top. And once you get down, you can go as far down as you want before you change your color, I like to do about 10 stitches, and it’s going to twist as you are making it. Just keep making Ds around the back, and pull. And when you’re ready to change the color, lay that color back into the pile, pull out your next color, I’m going to take out the blue, hold them all down, and start making Ds with the blue.

The D is around the back, through the big loop, pull to the top, and tighten. The more colors you use, the thicker the key chain will become. This is a sample of using less strings, and it’s thinner. This one’s five strings, so it’s a little bit thicker. And that, keep changing the color as you go, keep making the Ds, around the back, through the big loop, and tighten. And you can do about 10 stitches, and change the color again. And now I’m going to put this back in. I’m going to show you one more time, take out the next color you’re going to work with, and just start making Ds, pull to the top, and tighten. And you can keep changing the color as often as you like. And that’s how you make a Chinese Staircase out of lanyard.

Hi, I’m Heidi from the Lanyard Ladies and I’ll be showing you how to add beads to a friendship bracelet. This is what your bracelet will look like when you’re done. We’re doing to need some beads, some rattail cord, and some embroidery floss. Two different colors of embroidery floss.

We’re going to need 30 inches of rattail cord, which is your black cord, and 60 inches of embroidery floss. Fold it over. So you fold over your embroidery floss and your rattail. Line them up together. Then you’re going to twist it, and make it into a loop at the top. After you make your loop, you’re going to take your cardboard, going slit the bottom, gonna slit the top.

Place your loop into the top of the cardboard. Got a piece of masking tape to hold it securely. Tape the back, and you can put it into your clipboard so it’ll stay. Now separate the strings. Put the embroidery floss on one side and you’re going to put your rattail cords in the middle.

The stitch that we’ll be doing to put the beads on is really a Colbert stitch. So you’re going to take out your black embroidery floss, pick out a bead, and put your bead through both cords. Pull your bead all the way up to the top. You’re going to take one side and you’re going to go across with your four, straight down the other side, and underneath you’re going to pull it through to the first loop that we made.

Gently pull on both and tighten. And now your bead is securely in your friendship bracelet. Now take another bead and you’re going to put it, both rattail cord, the ends right through. Pull it up to the top. Now since you’re worked with the left side before, you’re going to work with the right side now. The right side is going to go across like a D and you’re going to go straight down, sort of like a pretzel.

And you’re going to go diagonally across into the D that you made and you’re going to pull both tightly together. Now you secured your second bead. Take a third bead, put both cords through, pull to the top. And now you’re going to do the left side. You’re going to go across, straight down and your goal is to go diagonally across into the forward knot that you had made.

And then pull both strings together. And each bead gets secured in there. And you just keep doing that until the bracelet fits your wrist. Both cords in. Pull to the top and the right side. Across, straight down, and go diagonally through. After a couple of stitches, it gets easier to do it.

Pull it down and pull it tight. And when you finish making it, it will look like this. And that’s how you make a friendship bracelet with beads.

Hi, I’m Colleen from the Ladies and I’m going to teach you how to make a Cobra friendship bracelet. First thing we need is a 30 inch piece of rat tail cord folded in half. Rat tail cord can be purchased at any local craft store. Then we’ll need two pieces of embroidery floss. These are about 60 inches in length folded in half.

You’ll want to take the embroidery floss and place it underneath your rat tail cord. Find the center and we’re going to tie a knot. Then we’re just going to shift the knot up to the top creating a loop and what I like to do is I take some tape and I tape my loop to the cardboard then I’ll fold it over the top. At the bottom of the cardboard I’m going to make two slits because that’s where this rat tail cord goes as we’re making our bracelet. You clip it to the board and now the only thing we need to do is get the two colors on the same side of the bracelet. So, I’m going to take the burgundy to one side and the purple to the other.

Now, we’re ready to get started. We’re going to make a D with the burgundy cords. Then we take the end of the purple under the burgundy under both of these cords into the loop of the burgundy and we’re going to pull it up. So, my thing just slid down. I’m going to push it back up again. To make it easier I’m just going to tape my cords down here at the bottom of the board.

Now, we make our d on the left side and we’re going to keep rotating which side we make the d on, but you’re always going to start the d with whatever color you’re working with. In my case it’s the burgundy. You’re taking the purple underneath on a diagonal under all the cords into the burgundy d and you pull it. It’s a side to side pull and you tighten it up at the top like that.

Now, we’re doing the d on the right. The cords come over and then underneath on a diagonal into the loop of the d and you pull it up. Now the d is on the left or a backward d. The purple bows crosses on top of your burgundy underneath all the cords on a diagonal into the loop of the burgundy and you pull it side to side.

Now, if you forget which side to make your d on, where this little line is right here, that’s this side telling you to make the d on that side. So, that’s my burgundy side. As I said, we’re making d’s always with the burgundy. So, you make your d. Tuck this underneath into the loop then you pull it through.

Okay. On this side. Tuck this underneath into the loop and I’ll pull it up. You’ll continue with this until you make it as long as you need to to fit your wrist. Here I have a sample of one that’s almost completed. Looks just like this. Then here’s a final sample of a completed bracelet. This one is multicolored and it uses two additional strings of color other than these two.

In this case, we put a bead on the end, so when we wear it we could put the loop through the bead. This way you can take it on and off. This is how you make a Cobra friendship bracelet.

The materials you’re going to need to make the double snake is rat tail cord, which you can buy in any craft store. It’s a little thicker than regular embroidery floss that you use to make the friendship bracelet. You’re going to need two 20 inch pieces of rat tail cord.

You’re also going to need to pick out three colors for your snake bracelet. Three of your colors are going to be the same and then you’re going to have two that are different, that are single. That’s going to be about 60 inches in length that you need.

Now we’re going to start off. We’re going to have our cardboard that we need, and we need a clipboard to help us work. Take your scissor, you’re going to make two slits at the bottom and one slit at the top. We’re going to take the two pieces of black rat tail cord and we’re going to fold them in half. Make them even at the bottom, lay them out across your board.

Take your five pieces of string that you have, place it down like this because you’re going to try to wrap the string around. Tuck it in and grab these two pieces and pull it through. If you have a friend with you it’s easier to work with and have somebody hold the black rat tail for you. Then just pull it tight. Now you’ve formed a loop and you’re going to pull it to the top. Now you have a double loop.

Normally when you make your snake bracelet there’s one loop, but we’re making it twice as thick. Now you have your slit at the top of the cardboard, you’re going to place your loops in there. Take a piece of masking tape, tape it from the back to hold it still for you. You need four slits at the bottom.

Take your black rat tail cord, you’re going to put them at the slits in the bottom to hold them still for you. Take your cardboard and clip it into your clipboard. Now we can start making our snake.

You’re going to start off with one of the single colors that you have. I’m going to start with the yellow. We’re going to do a forward knot all the way across on all four strings. Two knots on each. So you’re going to make your four to remind you that you’re going to do a forward knot, you’re going to do it two times each all the ay across with all of your strings.

Start off at the yellow, you’re going to do two each. Wrap it around. Up to the top and tighten. Make a four, go around, up to the top and tighten. Go to your next string. Make a four, up to the top and tighten. Do two on each.

Right now you have no pattern on this side, but once all the strings get here a pattern will start to form. Now you’re going to take the other single color that you have, which is the orange. Same thing. Two on each all the way across. Around the back, two forward knots, pull to the top, tighten.

Now you’re going to start with the red. You have a whole bunch of red on this side. Doesn’t matter what order you go in, just take any red string that you want, until the pattern forms on the other side. You’re always going to do two on each. One. Two. All the way across.

Now all your strings are on the right side of the board and we’re going to move them over to the left side. You’re going to do a backward knot to do that. You’re going to be making your D, going across, two times each. You can see how thick it is right now and we’re going to make our G now. Make a D, around the back, through the big loop, pull to the top, tighten, make a D, around the back, pull to the top, and tighten. You can see now all the strings are lined up so you can tell which string is coming next.

Now we’re on our last string and we’re going to get all the strings to go to the other side. You’re just going to keep going back and forth and back and forth until the bracelet is long enough to fit your wrist. Do the last few across and I’ll show you what it’s going to look like because you are working on the backside of this bracelet. The front of the bracelet is underneath. We have two more to do. Around the back, through the big loop, pull to the top and tighten.

Now all our strings are here on the left side. If you pull these out and flip it over you can see your double snake and what it’s going to look like as you keep going. That’s the single and that’s your double.

That’s how you make a double snake.

Hi, I’m Heidi from The Lanyard Ladies, and today I’m going to be teaching you how to make a snake bracelet. First you’ll need 20 inches of rattail cord, this you can get at any craft store. It’s a little thicker than french or bracelet embroidery string that you’d be typically to make your bracelet, and this is the sample of the snake bracelet that you’ll be making. It looks very complicated, but it’s actually very easy to make.

You’re going to be using 60 inches of embroidery floss. You need three colors of your embroidery floss, but we’re using five strings, so you need to pick one color that’s going to be the color that shows the most. So in our samples here, the black is the color that shows the most, so that’s the one that you would have three strings of that, and two other colors that you need. So I have chosen red to be my color that is going to stand out the most, and I also chose an orange and a yellow. So you’re need three of the colors that’s going to show the most, and then two other colors.

Now to set up this bracelet, you’re going to need your clipboard, and you need your cardboard, and you need some tape. You start of by taking your rattail cord, and you’re going to put it straight across. Sometimes it’s easier if you have somebody to help you, that could hold the string up for you, so that you can do the first knot to get your snake bracelet started, but I’m going to show you how to do it if you don’t have someone with you. You’re going to lay it straight across like this, and what you’re trying to do is go underneath the black cord, and you’re going to pull the whole cord through. It might take a little bit if you’re doing it by yourself, and then you tighten that knot. And then you’re just going to slide it up, so you have a loop at the top, and that will be the loop for your bracelet, so you can end your bracelet easily, and you tighten that.

And now all your strings are going to start off, you’re going to put them on your left side. You take your cardboard, you’re going to cut a slit at the top, and you’re going to cut two slits at the bottom, one for each of the black cords. Now you’re going to take your string, the black loop, and you’re going to tuck it in to the cardboard. Take a piece of masking tape, and this will hold it securely and so that your string don’t slip. Now clip your cardboard into the clipboard. You’re going to take your black rattail cords, put one at the bottom of the cardboard, and one in the other slit.

Now in order to make the snake bracelet, it’s really simple. You’re going to use your basic knot, your forward knot, and your backward knot. First we;re going to start with the forward knot. So to help you remember, I would suggest that you make a four on the left hand side of your board, and an arrow this way, so you know that every stitch we’re making, our goal is to get all of these strings onto the other side. All of these strings are going to be making a four to get them onto the other side. Now we have a lot of strings here, but the first string you’re going to start off with is either, there’s two single strings, an orange, and there is a yellow. So I’m going to start with my orange. You can start with either one that you want, and you’re going to make your four, and you’re going to do two on each. You’re going to do two fours on this string, and two fours on this string. So you make your four, you go around the back through the big loop, gently pull to the top and tighten. Make a four around the back, through the big loop, pull to the top, tighten. Take the same string, and you’re going to do the same thing on the second rattail cord. Make a four around the back, through the big loop, gently pull to the top, tighten, a four, around the back, through the big loop, pull to the top, and tighten. And now the orange string was here, and now it’s on this side.

Now you’re going to take the next color, which is the yellow, do the same thing, two fours on each, around the back, through the big loop, pull to the top, and tighten, around the back, through the big loop, pull to the top, and tighten. Two on each, always doing two on each throughout the whole bracelet with all of these strings. And again, your goal is to get all of these strings to go to the other side.

Now you’re going to do all of the red. You can take any red that you want, it doesn’t matter right now, because right now you really don’t have a pattern set up, you’re going to take any red that you want in any order. Once the strings are on the right side of the board, then you’ll see a pattern line up, and it’ll be easier to see which string comes next. So right now you can take any red that you want, make a four around the back, to the top, tighten it, another four around the back, top, tighten. Same thing, always doing the same thing on the other string that you did on the first string. Pull to the top, tighten. Now pick another red string, we have to do all the reds next. It doesn’t matter what order, again, you don’t have to worry about the order just for this first time, so we get to the other side.

So now we have all our strings lined up on the right side of your board, and if you look closely you can see that they’re lined up in a pattern, so you don’t have to think about what’s going to come next. Now you know that your first string you’re going to work with is your orange, the next is the yellow, and then you could see the order of all the reds, and you can see the yellow and the orange. Now in order to get these strings to go back to the other side, we’re going to do a backward knot. You’re going to be making your dews, and you’re going to go this way, and you’re going to do on each, it’s always two on each string. But now we can follow the pattern that’s going back. So we start with the orange, because that’s the one at the bottom. And you can tighten the strings if they get looser, and if it is easier to work with it, and you’re going to make a dew now. So you’re going to make the dew around the back, through the big loop, pull to the top, tighten, make a dew, around the back, through the big loop, tighten. And again, you’re working, this is the back of the bracelet, so it might look a little weird, and it’s not looking like you think it’s going to, but I’ll show you when we get to the other side, when we flip it over, you’ll see the snake pattern. Now you take the next one, because they’re lined up, you can see which one comes next. Take the yellow around the back, through the big loop, and tighten. Just keep making your dews.

Okay, do our last two, and now all your strings are back on the left side. As you could see, now you can see a pattern forming, and you’re just going to do two fours on each to get it back, and you’re just going to keep doing it back and forth, but like I said, this is the back side of the bracelet, so if you want to see what it’s going to look like, you take out your cords out from the bottom, just flip it over, and that is what your bracelet’s really going to look like. And here is a sample of how it would turn out, and you just keep going till it fits your wrist.

And that’s how you make a snake friendship bracelet.

Hi. I’m Colleen from the Lanyard Ladies, and now we’re going to learn how to make a V friendship bracelet. I have five colors, and I have 30 inches here, and you need to find the center of the 30 inches. At the center, we make a knot. But after we have a knot in our string, we take our cardboard. We’re going to put a slit at the top, and we’re going to need several slits at the bottom because we have to separate the strings across the bottom, all the individual colors. So we put the knot in the top, and we tape it around the back. And now we separate our strings. The key to this bracelet is the setup of the color pattern. So because you have two of each color, you want to put one color on this side, on the left, and you’re going to put the same exact color directly on the other side.

So now we’re going to put yellow next to the purple. Now we’re ready to get started. We can put the cardboard into the clipboard, and we begin. This bracelet comes down and meets in the middle. So from the left, when we use the strings we do the forward knot to the middle in that direction, from left to right. Then when we come in from the right side, we’re doing the backward knot, and we go from right to left. So this bracelet uses both the forward knot and the backward knot. We’re going to start on the left with our forward knot.

Tuck it underneath into the loop, and you pull it up. Two forward knots on each different color string. And attach into your cardboard. Now you take the purple from the opposite side, and you do the backwards D to meet in the middle with the other purple. Now you take these two purple strings, and you’ll notice that the bracelet at the very top there is not separated. So you need to connect the bracelet with these two strings. You’re going to do the forward knot, the number four, to tie them up together. Two knots in the middle. That’s one. And that’s two. And you’ll tuck them back in. And now we go back outside, and we do the same thing with the leftmost string, making the number four underneath, and you pull it up.

Two on the blue, two on the royal. Now two on the purple. Okay. Now you’ll notice that I don’t have a slot in the bottom of board for the yellow. So I have to take these strings and just move them over to the left to make room. And Ill put this here. And now we do the Ds from the right side with the other yellow. You’ll notice if you don’t hold this string that you’re working on tight enough that you won’t get a yellow knot at the top. You’ll get the blue knot at the top. So you make sure as you’re making your Ds or your fours that you’re holding the bottom string tight as you pull the knot up. Okay. That’s one. That’s two. And now we’re going to tie up our yellows, again using the number four.

That’s one. That’s two. Now we’ll tuck these in the bottom. And now you can see at the top how our V pattern is starting to come into play right there. So if you continue working on your V bracelet, you’ll make it long enough to fit your wrist. This is what the bracelet looks like when it’s completed. In this case, I made two braids at the bottom, and I tie it into the loop at this end so I can take it on and off. I don’t have to keep wearing it. And this is how you make the V friendship bracelet.

Hi, I’m Colleen from the Ladies and now we’re going to learn how to make a Candy Stripe Friendship Bracelet. I’m making a Candy Stripe Bracelet with five strings. You probably want to cut your strings about 20 inches in length. That should accommodate any size wrist. You take your strings and you put your basic knot at the top. I like to attach it to the cardboard.

Now, when I’m setting up my cardboard for candy stripe because the strings are being separated I’m going to put several slits across the bottom to accommodate the different strings. So, we take the knot and we put it through the slit at the top. We tape our strings onto the back. I want to separate my strings and start with this one. Then I’m going to take the pink and put it in the first slot. Then we do purple. Oops. Then we’re going to do blue and then white. So, you put each string in each individual slot at the bottom. I’m leaving this one out because that’s the string that I’m going to start making the bracelet with.

So, this bracelet uses the forward knot. The forward knot is the number four. In this bracelet, you always start on the left and you work your way to the right. You’re always going in that direction from left to right. So, we start with the four. We tuck the end of the string we’re making the four with under the first string and you pull it up. The forward knot is always two knots on each individual string. So, that’s two.

Now, we move to the purple string. We make the four on top of the purple. We tuck the end of this string under the purple and we pull it up. We do it again. Two times on each string. I’m going to do two on the blue then two on the white. Then when you’re done you take this sting and you tuck it in the last slot at the bottom of you board.

Now, you take out the next string which is the pink. We’re going to do the same exact thing again working from left to right making our fours. Two on each string. That’s one. That’s two. Then we go to the blue. That’s one. That’s two. Then we do the white. One and two.

My last color is one. This is two. Then you take this string and you put it in the next slot. So, you’re going to continue in this manner doing fours all across the colors of your strings. This is actually a sample of this five string friendship bracelet. So, five strings will give you this thickness. If you want to get fancy and more creative we can do rainbow colors. In this case, we did two of each next to each other and because there was additional strings the bracelet came out wider.

Again, you’ll make these long enough to fit your wrist. When you’re finished you can put a knot at the end or you can braid it. So, when you tie it on you’ll just tie it together on the back like that. This is how you make the Candy Stripe Friendship bracelet.
