How to Make a Zipper Friendship Bracelet with Lanyard

Transcript

Hi, I’m Colleen from The Lanyard Ladies, and today I’m going to show you how to do the zipper stitch with lanyard. You will need three pieces of lanyard, and we could tie a knot at the top. The color that you’re zipping with, you probably should cut a little bit longer because you will lose it as you go.

This is a sample of the zipper stitch. We’re going to start, and I’m going to zip with this green. So you want to go over, it’s a weaving stitch, you’re going to go in and out. You’re going to go over the purple and under the blue. Now you go over the blue and under the purple, over the purple and under the blue, and you just pull it tight as you go, over and under, over the purple and under the blue, over the blue and under the purple, over the purple and under the blue. And you’ll have to pull that, the zipping color, out in-between these two, because they want to wind around the other string at the bottom as you go, so you’ll have to separate them occasionally, so it doesn’t end up all knotted.

So you’re going over the purple and under the blue, over the blue and under the purple, over the purple and under the blue. And see what happens here, it gets caught up under in the bottom so you just pull this out, and keep going around and under, around and under, around and under. And this is what we call the zipper stitch. So you could actually tie this one on your wrist as a bracelet, because this kind of looks like a cool bracelet, you could tie it behind like this. So that’s how you make a zipper stitch out of lanyard.
