Hi. I’m Colleen from the Lanyard Ladies, and today I’m going to show you how to make a spiral stitch with lanyard. I find this to be one of the most difficult stitches. So you’re going to need two pieces of lanyard, probably 20 inches in length. You’re going to take one of the colors and wrap it around the other color in the center. Crisscross it around like this. Now you’ll notice that these two strings are a little bit closer together than these two strings. So I’m going to take this high pink one. I’m going to call this the high one because this is a little lower. I’m going to wrap it around the back of the green in between these two strings on the right side and fold it down in front. This is actually a weaving stitch. So now we have the high on this side. You have a high and a low, and these two are close together. You’re always going to take the high stitch. Take the high pink around the back. Separate these two, and fold it over top of the other pink and down in front. And you pull it tight. Now our high string is on this side.
Now it’s a green. So you take this high green one around the back. Separate these two strings and fold it down in front. And you pull it tight and separate it. Now your high’s on the right. So you’ll notice the high is rotating from right to left, from right to left. And it’s going to rotate from different colors. So now your green is the high one. Bring it around the back in between these two and down in front. Okay. Now your high’s over here. Wrap this around the back. Separate the two on the right, and down in front. Fold it, and pull it tight. Now we got the high on the right. Around back, separate the two on the left. Fold this down in front, and pull it tight. Around the back. Separate, and down in front. Around the back. Separate, and down in front. Around the back.
Separate, and down in front. The problem with this stitch is that once you start, you can’t really put it down. It’s very difficult. You’ll lose it, and it will unravel and start opening. So you’ll see here, I use a paper clip to hold one that I previously started just in that manner. So we can keep going here. Go around the back. Separate and down in front. So you’ll keep doing this until it’s the desired length that you’re looking for. My samples here, I have this. It’s my ankle bracelet. And I also have a necklace that I wear in spiral. And I have a keychain. So this is a pretty functional stitch. You can do very different things with it. But it is, again, very difficult. One more time, I’ll show you. You take the high one around the back. Separate the two left strings, and down in front. The high one’s on the left now, the green. Around the back. Separate the two on the right, and fold this down in front. And this is how you make the spiral stitch with lanyard.
