Today we’re making musical instruments out of household items. We’re going to make a Buzzing Machine. Sounds like fun. We’re going to need a pair of scissors, an index card. A colored index card will work too. Some stickers if you want to decorate the index card. A rubber band, a broken pencil, or you can break it yourself, a couple of erasers, a stapler and some yarn.
The first thing we’re going to do is take our index card and we’re going to cut it into a square. If you want to decorate the index card and like to do that it’s kind of fun. After we’ve decorated it we’re going to take our pencil and we’re going to take the erasers and put it on either side of the pencil. Once we get the erasers securely onto the pencil then we’re going to cut a piece of yarn, maybe string, yarn. A few feet, one foot, should be enough. Cut the yarn. Once we’ve cut the yarn I’m going to attach the yarn, make a knot onto one side of the pencil. I’m going to take it and I’m going to make a knot. We’re going to staple the pencil to the index card. So you’re going to open your stapler. It might take you a few times to actually get it. Now that we have our buzzy thing stapled we’re going to take a rubber band and we’re going to put it lengthwise around the pencil like so. There we go. And, that’s a cool buzzy thing.
