This is a video for an origami swan. The first step for the origami swan is to take a sheet of paper and we’re going to start with a diagonal fold. So go ahead and take the bottom point and bring it all the way up to the top. Get it nice and precise, so that there’s no white showing on the other side. Go ahead and put a finger right there and then slide your other finger down. And then fold it in place and then go out to the corners just like that, will give you some nice sharp corners.
Next open it up and then we’re going to do a kite fold. So we’re going to take two edges just like this and fold those into the center line that we just created with the diagonal. Do this on one side and then also on the other side just like this. Again, try and make sure that they line up next to each other nice and even just like that. Next we’re going to go ahead and fold the top point. We’re going to fold it down to where those other corners are. So all three of those corners are going to meet each other, right there on that spot.
After that we’re going to fold the entire model in half like this, and this is going to be the base for the swan, and we’re going to use this point right here for the head and the neck. So what we’re going to do is we’re going to fold this flap up at whatever angle you want, to make a neck and then back out to make a head. And the way this works is right now, those are just going to be mountain and valley folds.
You just sort of pleated the paper up like this and folded it in front, but what we want to do is we want to actually do inside reverse folds, so that the head and neck are going to be on the inside of the paper. So instead of having it just go in front or even behind, what we’re going to do is we’re going to open up the paper, and then we’re going to use those creases to push this inside the model this flap, and use those creases that we already have.
So go ahead and use both of those as mountain folds. You see how, if we look at it from here, we’re going to make both of these mountain folds along those edges right there. And then when I push this up and re-collapse the paper, you see how I’ve taken that, and I’ve folded it inside for an inside reverse fold and now it’s inside the model. And then the same thing here, open this up and push down the head right along that line, and that gets you an origami swan.
