How to Do the Cuddle in Swing Dance

Transcript

Aaron: Hey guys, it’s Aaron.

Kristina: And I’m Kristina.

Aaron: We’re professional dance instructors coming at you today from New York City, and today we’re going to be going back into our swing and we’re going to be talking about a little step we like to call the cuddle. So what we’re going to do is we’re going to start with our double hand hold, and we’re going to start with our basic action again. One, two, three and four, five and six. One, two. Now from here gentlemen we’re going to lead the ladies into a reverse underarm turn, bringing her back in while also keeping our right to left hand hold. One, two three, one, two three. Here, as we bring the lady into our right side, here, and we rock together. One, two, three and four, five and six. So let’s take a look at that one more time. One, two, three and four, five and six. One, two, send her out, five and six.

Kristina: And so one thing that’s a little bit helpful for the ladies to know in this step, when the gentleman brings you kind of in that cuddle position here, you want to try to stay slightly in front of him. If you guys try to get four hips wide here it’s going to be really hard to do that rock step. So just remember gentlemen, bring her slightly in front of you, and ladies try not to go too far shoulder to shoulder with him.

Aaron: So let’s take a look at that one more time. And one, two, three and four, five and six. One, two, so bringing the ladies into what we sometimes like to refer to as a shadowed position where we’re slightly behind her. Again this is just going to help so we can lead the lady back out again. Three and four, five and six. One, two. Now let’s try that with some music.
