How to Do Snake Arms in Belly Dancing

Now we’re going to try to do the Snake Arms. Bring the hand down, keeping the palm facing the floor. Now you’re going to lift the shoulder all the way up, drop it back down, lift the elbow and be careful to keep the palm facing down no matter what. Drop the elbow down. Now you’re going to lift the wrist and then release through the fingers and again. Shoulder up and down, elbow, wrist and release. When you connect these three points you’re going to get an arm wave. Let’s try that with music. Now remember to keep the palm facing down at all times. Let’s try the other arm. And faster. When you connect both arms they will work in opposition. So when you start to lift one arm up, allow the other to drift down. When you hit the highest position, so you’re going to lift the wrist all the way up on one side, shift your focus to the other arm that’s down and you’re going to reverse the movement and start it on the other side. Lifting one and the other. And pay attention to your fingertips so that they’re not just hanging there but they’re full of energy. And try it faster. And that’s how you do Snake Arms.
