My name is Ben Nemzer and I’m a magician. One of my specialties is Close-Up magic, which is magic with ordinary objects. Decks of cards, ropes, rubber bands. And, I do that all over New York City.
I’m going to teach you some of the basics of magic that you guys can start performing right away.
I’m going to show you how to make a rubber band jump from these two fingers over to these two fingers. One, two, three. Just like that.
Now, here’s the secret. For starters, most rubber bands are a little too large, so you need to wrap them around your fingers just once. Almost like a pony tail.
Now, when you say you’re going to make the rubber band jump from one side to the other, what you actually do is you pull this down and put all your fingers inside this loop. Except for the thumb.
And the rubber band goes across the fingers. Make sure all of them are in and they’re in enough. Because, if any of them are slipping out the trick won’t work.
And, what you want to do is open all of your fingers at the same time. And, what that does is it makes it jump from one side to the other.
Now, there’s a few things to remember. For starters, you want to make sure that people aren’t looking at the back. Because that will ruin it.
Secondly, if any of the fingers slip out when you open your fingers, you’ll just get tangled up.
And thirdly, you want to make sure that you open all of your fingers at the same time. Just like this.
In fact you might even want to practice that once or twice before you start the trick.
So remember. You wrap it around once. Pull it down. Get all the fingers inside the loop. And then you open all your fingers at time.
And, that’s how you make a rubber band just from these two fingers to those two.
