My name is Ben Nemzer and I’m a magician. One of my specialties is close up magic, which is magic with ordinary objects, decks of cards, ropes, rubber bands and I do that all over New York City. I’m going to teach you some of the basics of magic that you guys can start performing right away. So, some obvious pitfalls that people have or some big mistakes that people make when they’re trying to be a magician is to try to be like somebody else, the only way that you can really be good at what you’re doing is to be yourself and whatever you do, do in a way that is really honest to who you are. Even whether you like them or not, people like David Blain and Chris Angel and David Copperfield, Doug Henning, anyone who’s been famous in magic or in almost any field is because they’re doing their thing. And if you try and copy their thing, no one wants to see a copy, everyone wants to see an original. Don’t be the next so and so, be the first you and that’s I think number one.
