How to Spring Cards for Card Tricks

Transcript

My name is Ben Nemzer and I’m a magician. One of my specialties is close-up magic which is magic with ordinary objects; decks of cards, ropes, rubber bands and I do that all over New York City. I’m going to teach you some of the basics of magic that you guys can start performing right away. I want to show you how to spring cards from hand to hand and it looks like this. Alright now this is how it’s done. There’s actually a couple of ways to do it. Now the way a lot of people do it is you put one thumb on the corner right here. And the other four fingers here. You apply pressure and you let the pressure push them past these fingers and as you release the tension they shoot from one hand to the other. And as you practice that you try to get an even rhythm as the cards pass through and if you move your hands further and further away you’ll be able to make it go further and further. Of course if you try to shoot them very far right from the beginning, cards will go everywhere. Another way to spring cards from hand to hand which is the way I do it is I take these two fingers, my middle finger and my ring finger and I place them on the front top of the deck and I push them against the base of my thumb. I release the pressure slightly so they go past my fingers into my hands. Now if you do just it just little further away and a little more and a little more that’s how you practice and you can learn to spring cards from one hand to another. It’s actually not that hard it just takes lots of practice. Give it a shot.
