How to Do the John Wall

Transcript

Loretta: Hey everybody, what’s up? My name’s Loretta. This is Ava and Anthony, and today we’re going to teach you how to do the John Wall.

Anthony: All right guys, so we’re going to break this down into three really simple counts of eight. We’re going to start with our feet together. We’re going to step to the right, arm up like this, so we’re going to go one, two, so just a step touch, ready, arm in; one, two.

Now we’re going to go back on the three, four. So once again we’re going to go one, two, three, four; you’ve already got your four counts down. All right, let’s try that again; five, six, seven, eight; one, two, three, four. Great, now our second count of four is we’re going to roll the dice and shoot. Ready? Five, six, seven, eight; five, six, seven, eight; now on the shoot, you kind of want to extend your whole body, like you’re really letting go.

So now we’re going to put the first four and the second four together and make that an eight count. Ready? Five, six, seven, eight; one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight; great.
Now for our second count of eight, it’s a simple pulse to the left, with our arms up. We’re going to go one, two, switch, three, four. Once again, arms are going to be up, and we’re just going to pulse; five, six, seven, eight; one, two pulse, three, four; perfect.

Now our second count of that four is going to be a shot. We’re going to shoot the ball, hold for six, seven and eight. Once again, we’re going to go five, six, seven, eight. Now you want to lean on your right foot and kick your left foot up and just kind of bounce there. It doesn’t have to be sinking all the way down, but you just bounce and keep the beat.

So we’re going to add all this together right now. Good, guys? Two counts of eight. Ready? Five, six, seven, eight; one, two, three, four, roll the dice out; pulse, pulse, pulse, pulse, five, six, seven, eight.

Great, so you want to really extend the arm on the shot, hold it; seven, eight. Then after that you have a basic simple arm out; one, two, three, four and five, six, seven, eight. Now the and is what’s going to switch your feet from here to here. So let’s try that again. Five, six, seven, eight; one, two, three, four and five, six, seven, eight. You guys want to put it all together?

Loretta and Ava: Yes.

Anthony: Great; one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight; pulse and pulse and shot, hold, seven, eight; one, two, three, four and five, six, seven, eight, and that’s how you John Wall.
