Instructions
- Step 1: Say the first line Say the line, “I’m going on a picnic, and I’m going to bring,” and then add something that begins with the letter A, such as ants: “I’m going on a picnic, and I’m going to bring ants.”
- Step 2: Repeat the line Have the next player repeat the first line, complete with the item added to the end, adding something that begins with the letter B: “I’m going on a picnic, and I’m going to bring ants and a basket.”
- TIP: For older kids that are already well versed in the alphabet, pick a theme for the items, like food or animals, to increase the difficulty level.
- Step 3: Continue Players continue repeating the items that came before and adding a new item until they reach the end of the alphabet.
- TIP: If you’re playing with young children, skip difficult letters, such as Q and X.
- Step 4: End the game End the game when someone can’t repeat all the items in the list.
- FACT: Did you know? The modern 26-letter alphabet was finally completed in the 17th century.
