How to Do the Bachata Basic with a Kick Shuffle

Transcript

Edwin:Now we’re going to demonstrate how to do the kick shuffle. We’re starting with the left foot on the number one for ladies and gentlemen. Five, six, seven, eight. And one, and two, and three, tap. And five, and six, and seven, tap. What we’re doing is, in between every step, we’re adding a little kick shuffle to the front. We’re not really picking up our feet. We’re just kind of pushing something in front of us. Five, and six, and seven, tap. And one, and two, and three, tap. And five, and six, and seven, tap.

Let’s try it from the back side. Five, six, seven, eight. And one, and two, and three, tap. And five, and six, and seven, tap.

Daniela:Ladies, make sure you’re still doing your hips on the tap, and notice that this step is also in place.

Edwin:And five, and six, and seven, tap. Now we’re going to demonstrate this step with our partners. Five, six, seven. And one, and two, and three, tap. Five, and six, and seven, tap. Notice this step is very interactive, so you have to make sure to look at your partner and just have a good vibe with each other.

Daniela:Ladies, notice that we start on the right foot, and the gentlemen start on the left foot.

Edwin:And one, and two, and three, tap. And five, and six, and seven, tap. Now let’s try this with some music.

What you want to pinpoint is the bongo sound. Bop, bop, bop, tap. Bop, bop, bop, tap. And the kick goes forward, in between each number. We have and one, and two, and three, tap. And five, and six, and seven, tap. And one, and two, and three. And notice our tap is in the middle. Tap. Tap. Tap. One, and two, and three, tap. And five, and six, and seven, tap.

And that is how we do our shuffle step in bachata.
