How to Do a Basic Cross Body Lead Salsa Step

Transcript

Hello, my name is Jorday Rivera, and I am an expert in salsa. I own two dance studios in Queens, New York. We’re going to be learning a progression of salsa moves so we can actually go out, practice, take it to the clubs, take it to a party, and you can show off all the great moves you learned. This is called the cross body lead, but of course you have to start with the basic. We’re gonna do it in closed position because it’s a point of work move. We’re gonna be in closed position and we’re gonna do it with music. Now we’re gonna break down the basic with a cross body lead. We’re gonna turn and face our partners, and we’re gonna do a basic. Now we’re gonna be in closed position. This here,is called closed position. We’re gonna do a regular basic. We’re gonna go and one, two, three, back, back, step. Now gentlemen, you have to open up nice and strong for the ladies and give us a passageway, okay? Now pretty much he opens up on one. Now we, we take his big one. One, we’re gonna walk again, two, we pivot. Gentlemen you have to give us a little push, okay? Three, I’m gonna recover on, five, six, seven, again he’s gonna open up. Open, two, three, five, six, seven. Open, two, three, five, six, seven. Open, two, three, another good step is open, rock, step for the gentlemen. Open, rock, step. And for the ladies we’re gonna go one, two, pivot, five, six, seven. One, two, pivot, five, six, seven. One, two, pivot, five, six, seven. One basic and one, two, three, five, six, seven and that’s a basic breakdown for the cross body lead.
