How to Do the Blase in Reggae Dancehall

Transcript

Woman: Right now, Daemon is going to demonstrate a dance-song move
called the Blase.

So with the Blase you’re going to be starting off with your feet. You going to start with tapping your feet on the toe. Tap, bring the right leg forward, and your left leg is always back. Right. So you’re going to also walk up, forward with the back leg.

Now you’re going to add the arms, and when you add the arms
both your arms and legs are in sync with each other, so you’re going to
be moving them always at the same time. So right now Damon is doing the
Blase.

Also you can also rotate your hips in a circular motion, add a tick to
it. So it’s tap, tap, rock the hips, and pump the hips. Right, walk it up
forward. When you bring it up forward you’re going to bring it up with
the back leg. Right. So make sure you’re tapping that toe, and make sure
your arm is moving in sync with the same leg. And that’s the Blase.

Daemon: Blase. Because the Blase in Jamaica for this one, they created
this one and then Elephant Man took it and made it even bigger
by adding a song to it. Yeah? It’s just a fun dance, you’re at a party and you
feel nice whatever you have on is hopping and it’s popping. That means
you’re blased. All right? So you get a round of applause for the Blase. So this is the Blase. This is one of those dances that you do, and you feel nice in whatever you have
on.

Woman: Just have fun with it.

Daemon: Have fun

Woman: It’s a fun dance, dance hall dance. When you do it just step out, step out and
show off your outfit. Blase, blase.
