HI. I’m Shawn Tinling, president and founder of 21 Nights Entertainment. We’ve been in business since 2004. We serve the New York and the Las Vegas areas, as well as Los Angeles, Phoenix, also Boston, and Philadelphia. I got into business, basically by accident.

I’ve been gambling for about 15 years or so, and one day on online classifieds it said somebody wanted a blackjack dealer. Having played blackjack for so long, and I knew everything that they were doing, I’m like “Okay, well I can mimic them for a little bit to do this gig.” So, I did it and I got paid for it, and I was hooked.

I didn’t realize that that industry even existed. So, basically I was working in a big pharmaceutical industry and just decided to cash in my 401K and rent some tables and see what would happen. I’ve been in business ever since. To find out more about us, you can check out our website at www.21nights.com. Now, I’d like to show you how to play some of my favorite casino games.

We’re going to go into how to tip the dealer. Basically, I’m going to show you how to do it at a blackjack table.

This applies at just about any other game that you can play, and I’ll go into that in a little bit of detail to. But basically, if you have your bet out, you can tip the dealer straight out or you can put it right in front of your hand. And then basically hand get’s dealt out. And then, this case here it would stay against this four, and then dealer busts. Then the tip would be for the dealer here, as the players win as well.

In other games the idea is the same, you can put up a bet for the dealer or you could just tip them the face. In other casino games, in poker it’s general done after the hand is over, but in the other casino games, basically just let the dealer know what’s his and what’s yours. A lot of times you can put out a bet for the dealer in any amount you want, anywhere. Different casinos have different procedures as to how the chips are supposed to be laid out for it. I’m showing you here on blackjack, but you can do that on craps, you can do that on roulette, you can do it on mini-baccarat, any game that you want, and it’s always appreciated, whichever game. And, don’t forget, if you want to get that second drink from the cocktail waitress, remember to take care of her too.

I wanted to go over the 22 inside method of craps. I won’t call it a system, because you know, that implies that it works all the time. Which you know, anybody that tries to sell you on a system is probably lying to you. But this is a method, it actually works pretty well for me. And it’s one that’s designed for you know, for players to capitalize off of you know, what they call a hot shooter, somebody throwing a whole lot of rolls. You know, sometimes they’ll make a point here, and there whatever, and they just keep rolling, and rolling, and rolling, and rolling. It works out very well for this.

You can bet the inside pretty much whenever you’d like, you can do it on the come out roll, people normally don’t. They’ll wait till they are out on a point for sake of conversation I’ll just say we’re out a 10. So what happens, you bet the 22 inside, and you throw the money into the dealer, and he’s going to put the chips where they need to go. Sorry. And now your 22 is inside. The idea behind this is that you want the shooter to make at the very least 3 points.

So, say he rolls a 9, remember from an earlier video, I said it pays 7 to 5, so you’re going to get your 7 dollars. And I’ll just leave that there for right now. And then the next roll, say its an 8, it’s gonna be 7 to 6. And say a 5 comes up, and then that’s going to pay 7 to 5. So now here, you have 7, 7, 7, from your three rolls, and that’s $21.00, you put 22 in. So you’re for the most part, even already. So from this point, now if somebody were to roll, say another 9, then you have the option, you always have the option, you could raise or lower your bets with the dealer, so a lot of times people will, you know, they’ll say press. And pressing a bet basically just means that, you just going all, you know, as high as you can with it, and then the change would go back to the player, so now you have 10 dollars on the 9.

So now here, you’ve got $23.00, so now you’re actually up. So say if the 9 comes up again, you have the option, you could toss the dealer a dollar, he’ll give you 15, or you can pump your bet up a little bit more, and then you could basically just start stacking then up. And when you get to the point that you feel comfortable, and I can’t tell you what point that is, you have to figure that out on your own. But when you get to the point where you’re no longer comfortable with the amount of money at the table by all means, you could take everything down, just let the dealer know before, the shooter rolls. And now the money that you put out as an investment, is now your profit. Then if the dealer 7’s out, it doesn’t even matter, because you’re not anywhere on it. And now that is the 22 inside method of craps.

How to Make Lay Bets in Craps https://howcast.com/videos/511533-how-to-make-lay-bets-in-craps-gambling-tips/ Thu, 18 Apr 2013 19:27:36 +0000 https://howcast.com/videos/511533-how-to-make-lay-bets-in-craps-gambling-tips/

Hey, guys. I’d like to go over lay bets in craps. With the buy bit, we spoke in an earlier video, you have the opportunity to buy the more favorable true odds as opposed to place-bet odds. You can’t place against a number if you’re betting the don’t pass or you wanted to lay odds, but you’re allowed to get true odds for betting against a number. For instance, if you wanted to bet $50 against the four, what you’d do is you’d specify to the dealer that you want to lay $50 against the four, right, and then they’ll make a mark of your bet, and you have to pay a 5 percent commission on what you’re expected to win on the bet. It’s different than the buy bet where you have to put a 5 percent commission on what you’re putting out. A lay bet, since you’re actually a favorite, you’re not going to get paid that much back, so they give you a break and make you pay 5% of what you’re expected to get back.

In this case here, there are six ways that you can win with the seven. There are three ways you can lose with the four, so you get one to two odds on this. So your payout, should a seven come up, would be $25, right? So with that you’d just pay a commission of $1.

Some casinos will let you pay the commission a little bit before there’s a decision, sometimes they’ll make you pay afterwards. And it’s a little bit more to your advantage if they do it afterwards. But otherwise, that’s a way to lock everything in. And unlike the buy bet where like I recommended against buying certain numbers, the lay bet, since if you want to go against the number it’s the only way you can do it, so I would recommend going that route.

One of my popular plays would be to do a combination $25 against the eight, and what happens there, it’s $24 that goes against the eight, and then it counts the dollar commission already. So, then if the seven does come out it gets paid its true odds. There are six ways that you can win the bet; five ways you can lose it, so you get paid five to six, which is the $20. The dealer takes it down, passes it to you.

Lay bets can also be used in situations where if you want to basically bet the farm that the guy is going to seven out on a roll and you’re up against the table maximum for free odds, you can actually buy more odds. You can go as high as you’d like on that up to the table limit, which the table limit is usually about like $2,000, $3,000 or so. Check with your casino on that.

But that is the lay bet in craps.

How to Make Buy Bets in Craps https://howcast.com/videos/511532-how-to-make-buy-bets-in-craps-gambling-tips/ Thu, 18 Apr 2013 19:26:36 +0000 https://howcast.com/videos/511532-how-to-make-buy-bets-in-craps-gambling-tips/ Transcript

I just wanted to go over buy bets in craps. Basically we have a shooter here, we’re out on the nine, and he’s got a pass line bet in odds and he’s decided that he would like to place a bet on the four, but he’s not too happy with exactly what it would pay out.

Remember what I told you about the true odds, in an earlier video, that you get what the free odds bet? There’s actually a way where you can lock in that kind of rate for a small, small fee and it actually comes out a little better than place bet in a lot of situations. Let’s say for the shooter here, he’s waiting for a nine to come up and in the meantime he would like to bet the four. Alright? And if you were to bet the four, if you’d bet $25, i you were to place the 25 on the four, then what would happen, if the four comes up, he gets paid nine to five. So he’s going to get $45, which isn’t bad, alright?

But what could happen instead, you can buy the point, right? And if you buy the four, you make a notation to the dealer to buy the four. So what will happen then is that when the four comes up, instead of getting paid 45, you’ll get paid true odds of 50. The only things that’s gonna cost, it’s gonna cost you a commission or a fig of 5%. It’s 5% rounded to the nearest dollar of the money that you bet.

So what would happen there it be the player would have to throw in $1 to cover the buy bet. Some casinos require to place the dollar before the outcome, some places allow you to do it after the outcome. After the outcome is a little better for you, but otherwise it’s the same thing. So instead of getting paid $45, they’re getting paid a net of $49, which, in the long run could keep more money in the players pocket, which is always a good thing.

And this could be done on any point and they all pay the true odds, if you could buy the six or the eight and you would get a six to five. You could buy the five or the nine, and you would get three to two. You could buy the four or the ten and you get two to one.
And they all cost 5% of what you bet.

In the case of five, nine, four, and ten, that comes to your advantage to buy six and eight. It’s so narrow compared to the place bet odds of six to eight. It’s generally not worth it to buy the six or the eight, and all the years I’ve been playing I’ve never seen anybody do it, but it is technically possible. You can buy the six and the eight. Recommended for the four and the ten, I would take that over a place bet any day. And that is the buy bet in crabs.

Hey guys. I just wanted to go over combination bets in craps.

A combination bet, basically, players want to make a series of bets as opposed to just placing one number or another, and there are ways that we can do that with a little bit of craps lingo, so that dealers can make things quick and easy. First, you have an inside bet. What the inside bet is, basically, you’re just going to throw money to the dealer and specify that you want numbers inside. Typically, these are done in multiples of 22 because you have $5 each on the 5 and 9, which is $10, and you have $5 on the 6 and 8, which is $12. So there’s $22 for the case here.

If you specify an inside bet, then the dealers are going to put it the way you’d like. Sometimes you have players that prefer just all even numbers. They like to skip the 5 and 9. So, basically what you would do is throw money to the dealer, just specify that you want all even numbers, and again that’s a $22 combination bet. That would be on the 4, 6, 8 and 10 for this player here. For the true action junky, if you want to just basically cover everything, pretty much everything except for the 7, then what you’re going to do is specify, “I would like across.”

Bets across, if there iss a point established and you want to include it, because you don’t have to have a pass-line bet to do these bets, if you want to do it that way then it would be 432 increments. If you’re actually on a point, and you would not like to include the point, because you are already on the pass-line, like this guy here is, then it would be in $26 or $27 increments, depending on exactly where the point was. It would be 26 because you’re taking away 6 from 32, 27 here because you are taking 5 from 32. Again, that would cover the entire board.

Also, another type of combination bet, this is a good place to stick it here, would be the field. A lot of times, new players will come up and they’ll just say, “I don’t know what’s going on.”

The field is a very, very, very easy bet to play. In terms of house advantage, it’s not a mathematically wise play, but it’s easy. So if you go up to the game, and you just basically put your money in the field, then 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 12, if any one of those numbers come up, then you win. In the case of the 2 or the 12, if 2 comes up you get paid 2 to 1, 12 comes up you get paid 2 to 1. It depends on the casino. Sometimes they do pay 3 to 1, so it makes the field a little less bad for you. Otherwise, any of the other numbers would pay even money. Say if a 9 were to come up, the player could either take the money, or stack it up. However he wants to do it. The thing with the field is a lot of people are very, very excited about doing it, but the problem with the field is that 5, 6, 7 and 8 are the numbers that aren’t included in the field bet. There are 36 combinations of the dice, 5, 6, 7 and 8 cover 20 of them, so 16 out of 36 you’re going to win on the field, which is why I would stay away from it. Otherwise, that would cover all of the combination bets in craps.

How to Make a Hardway Bet in Craps https://howcast.com/videos/511530-how-to-make-a-hardway-bet-in-craps-gambling-tips/ Thu, 18 Apr 2013 19:23:29 +0000 https://howcast.com/videos/511530-how-to-make-a-hardway-bet-in-craps-gambling-tips/

Hey, guys. I just wanted to go over the hard ways bets in craps. You come up to the table and see a whole bunch of different numbers and things going on in the center of the table. Now, that part of the table actually makes the game a little intimidating for newcomers. It’s really not that difficult. I just wanted to explain exactly how this works. For purposes of this demonstration, I’ll just say that we’ve got a pass line bettor, and he’s out on the 5. Hard ways are the same concept as the place bets, where you’re betting that a certain thing is going to happen before a 7 comes up. But the difference between a place bet and the hard way is that a hard way has what a lot of board game player would refer to as ‘doubles’.

Hard ways are called ‘hard ways’ because for, say, a 4, there are three ways a 4 can come up. Two of them are 1 and 3, and the other one is 2-2, which would be considered the hard way to make a 4. Or in the case of a 6, you’ve got 1-5, 2-4, 3-3, and then you have 4-2 and 5-1. So, that one hard way a 6 can come up is 3-3. So, you’re betting on that to come up before 7 comes up.

So, what happens is that you roll the dice. I’ve got all the hard ways covered so that in this case here we have a 10, which is considered coming up easy with the 6 and 4. So now, the bet on the hard 10 would come down. A lot of times a player will take the option to just give the dealer another five dollars to put him back up to try again, but that’s entirely up to you. And then, as the game goes on, if you were to get a hard 6, the hard way here pays $10 for 1, which you may see on the casino layout as 9 to 1. It’s really just the language thing. It’s the exact same payout you’re going to get, which is $45. And then you would have the option if you wanted to add another hard way, if you wanted to pile up your money and get more out there. But, the second a 7 comes up, not only do you lose your pass line, all of your hard ways go as well. That is the hard ways bet in craps.

Transcript

I just wanted to go over the Come and Don’t Come bets in Craps. First, the come bet. Basically, what’s happening here, we have a Pass Line bet. We’ll say we’re out on a point of five. The shooter is about ready to shoot the dice across the table. The Come bet is basically a game within a game. It’s the exact same rules and concepts of Pass Line, where you put $10.00 on the Come bet. Right? Now the same rules applied from an earlier video where we did a Pass Line, where if you roll a 7 or 11 the Come bet is going to win. Right? 2,3, or 12 is going to lose for the Come bet just like the Pass Line. And whatever the next point is [dice roll], seven.

What happens here, is that the Pass Line would lose, but the Come bet would win because that was the next roll. Let’s just say, since I can’t get the dice to do what I want it to do right this second, that we’re out at a five and the point is nine. It’s like the next number is nine. Now, you have money in on the Come. Aside from having money on the five, then you also have money on the nine and the same thing you were doing with the Pass Line, you can do here, where the player has the option. They throw to the dealer whatever odds they want to do on this nine. You can still do the Free Odds thing. Dealer will put the chips on top of the original Come bet. Something like that.

Say when another nine comes up, then the nine would get paid the true odds, which is three to two because there’s four ways that the nine could come up and six ways that the seven could come up and then even money for this. This all goes to the player. Then they’re free to do it again. Keep in mind that it’s the nine coming up there, still out on the five, so you’re free to make another Come bet if you’d like.

Now, Don’t Come is the exact opposite. It’s like you have a Don’t Pass bet. You can now make a Don’t Come bet where you’re rooting for whatever number you come up to not come up again. In this case, it’s a ten. This goes behind here and it’s the player’s area for the Don’t Come. If you want, you could take odds. The odds actually work in reverse because there’s six ways you can win with the seven and there’s three ways you can lose with the ten.

Say if you wanted to take odds here, this is called laying odds, you take 20 behind here. Now if a seven comes up, then this 20 gets paid its true odds, which is one to two, because it’s a favorite and then this pays even money and this goes back to the player. In the case of if the ten does come up, then we take all of this away and then you’d still be on the Don’t Pass on the five. Those are the Come and Don’t Come bets in Craps.

Hi guys. I just wanted to go over Free Odds bet in craps. One of the great parts about craps is that is has this one bet, where is no house advantage whatsoever. If you’ve got a pass line bet of $10, depending on the casino, you can go put $20 as free odd against whatever number you’re rolling.

Say we’re out on a point here, we’re on a point of 4, and you have a pass line bet of $10, you’re allowed to take free odds of $20. What it is, is you put money behind the line here, and why you’re gonna want to do that, is because, there is absolutely no house advantage to that bet whatsoever. As mentioned in earlier videos, the pass line, when the 4 comes up, you get paid even money. But what if I told you, that if the 4 were to come out, this gets paid 1 to 1? What if I told you I could pay you 2 to 1 back there, and you could put more money on there? That is the free odds bet in craps.

And how it works is, depending on the casino, sometimes you can do just twice your original bet, sometimes up to 5 times you original bet. It really depends on where you’re playing. But the pass line will get paid even money, but what happens in the back here, gets paid what are known as ‘true odds.’ And true odds is, basically the whole foundation for like, all the math and numbers in craps. So, there are 36 combinations of the dice. There are 6 ways that a 7 could come out. And you could pair that to the 5 ways that a 6 and an 8 can come out, because for a 6 you have 1-5, 2-4, 3-3, 4-2, alright? And the 5 and the 9 can come up 4 different ways. 4 and the 10 can come up 3 different ways.

So, what happens here is that you put your free odds here and that gets paid its true odds, where, 4 can come out 3 ways, a 6 can come out 6 ways, so, 3 ways you can win, 6 ways you can loss. That’s 2 to 1. So, you would get paid 2 to 1 there on the bet. And then this would get paid even money as well.

So, the way that odds bet works, if you’re out on a 6 and 8 – You have a $10 flat bet, and then you have a $20 odds bet. Then the 6 comes up, you get paid even money, it gets paid 6 to 5. So 20 would pay 24. If we’re out on a 5 or a 9, you know, the odds for both are the exact same. And you have $20 bet, then a 5, if we’re out a 5, 5 comes up, this gets paid even money, this gets paid 3 to 2, because there are 4 ways that you can with, with a 5 or 9, 6 ways you can lose with 7. And then as I mentioned already, with a 4 or 10, with a free odds bet. It would be 1 to 1, and then 2 to 1.

It’s always a good idea to play the odds, because when you play the odds, the houses advantage overall, since you have more money out, actually decreases, the more you can put up, the better it is for you. Some casinos, they allow you to go 2 times your bet. Some got 5 times, There’s some places, especially in Las Vegas, where you can go 10 times your original bet, up to 100 times your original bet. If you can afford it, do it, because the math is actually in your favor that way. And that is the free odds bet in craps.

Hi. I wanted to go over the Pass line and Don’t Pass line in craps.

The Pass line is the most fundamental bet in the game, because without a Pass line, then the game doesn’t work. The way the Pass line works, when you place your bet, you’re betting that on the come out roll they’re going to get a seven or eleven. Or if he establishes a point, say it’s a six, he’s rooting for the six to come out before the seven.

The Don’t Pass is the opposite, where instead of betting on the shooter, the Don’t Pass better is betting against the shooter. The way that works is that on the come out roll, where a seven or eleven would win for the Pass line, on the Don’t Pass line, seven or eleven loses. Two or three wins for the Don’t Pass line. The 12, as stated here on the layout, is actually a push.

That’s how the house keeps its advantage over all of the players. On any other number, say in this case I rolled an eight, so now eight is the point. Now the Don’t Pass better is betting that the shooter is going to roll a seven before rolling an eight.

It’s actually after the come out roll that the odds kind of swing toward the Don’t Pass line, because the odds of rolling a seven, there are 36 combinations of the dice, seven can come out six ways. Six and eight can come out five ways. Five and nine can come up four ways. Four and ten can come up three ways.

So once a point has been established, the odds just shift into the Don’t Pass line’s favor. On the contrary, for the Pass line, before a point has been established, then that’s when they’re at an advantage rolling sevens and elevens after the come out roll.

That is the Pass line and Don’t Pass line in craps.

Hi, now I’d like to go over Place bets in craps.

Right now, we have a shooter over here who’ll be represented by myself. He’s got $10 on the pass line and he rolled a four on the come out roll so now the four is his point. What place bets are, you have the option, if you’d like, you can bet on any of these other numbers, the 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10, to come out while you’re still waiting for the 4.

Say he wants to put some money on all these other numbers here. I’ll put these bets up. These are dollars. I put these up there and I’ll explain that in a second.

They all get paid in fixed odds and it’s all dependent on the difficulty of them to roll. The numbers toward the center, they come out more frequently that the ones towards the end. We have the 6 and the 8. The odds on the bet is 7:6. So, for every six dollars you bet, which is why we have the ones here. These bets have to be made in six-dollar increments. Then the number comes out, it gets paid $7 and we go back to a player. If the 5 or the 9 comes up, before a 7 comes out, then it gets paid 7:5. Seven dollars would go to the player. And 4 and the 10, they have the same odds. If you were to do a place bet on the 10, and the 10 comes out, then you get paid 9:5. So, for every $5, you get $9, it goes to the player. Typically, if you’re on the pass line, you already represent whatever the point is in question, so it’s not necessary to do a place bet on your own number if you’re already on the pass line because it does pretty much the same thing. Hey guys, I just want to go over basic rules for craps. You can see I have a miniaturized table here. And the casino table is a little bit bigger than this, but the same basic rules apply.

Check with your table in the casino. Normally the table minimums will be about $5 or $10. I’m just going to use a couple of chips here. The game starts with a player placing a bet on the pass line, and then the dice go around the table in clockwise fashion from player to player. They all represent the shooter.

For this I’ll be the shooter here. You pick two dice. You’ll be given five, and you get to pick any two you like. You take two; these come up against the wall, and we’ve got two stages of play here. First up when this puck is in the off position, that means we’re on the come out roll. That means you’re rolling the dice up against the wall, and you’re looking for a seven or eleven. If a seven comes up you win even money, just like that. If an eleven comes up the same thing. If a two, three, or twelve come up then they take your money, and then you have to start again.

So, any other number that comes up typically, like an eleven came up there, so you would get paid. Any other point that would come up, in this case five, that becomes your point. Now I take this puck and I put this in an on position, so now this is the second part of the game on the pass line. Now the object of the game is to get another five before you roll a seven to win. And it doesn’t matter; you could roll any other numbers in the meantime and it doesn’t matter. You could roll, see I rolled a nine, and I just have money on the five, so it doesn’t matter, I just keep rolling.

I keep rolling, and roll another nine, and that keeps going on until I roll either another five, or if I roll a seven. In this case, I rolled the five, which is good news, the crowd goes wild. He gets paid and takes his winnings, puts it up on the rack up there. This puck goes in the off position. When we’re in the off position again, then we’re going to come out and you roll a seven or eleven again to win another bet. And that is the basic rules of craps.

Hi, everybody. I wanted to go into roulette etiquette.

Basically, what happens at the table, a lot of times you’ll have about eight or nine people crowding the table and everybody wants to get their bets and everything like that. It kind of resembles a New York City subway, if you’ve ever been, where everybody’s just kind of jostling for position. Doesn’t have to be like that. Everything can be all nice and orderly and everybody can get their bets in, in a timely fashion.

First up, the dealer’s here to help you. A lot of times people will be at the end of the table and trying to reach in for chips and things like that when, just as simply, like Dealer, like, sir, can you just, an area over here where, like, outside of the play field just tell the dealer whatever you want. Okay. I’d like number four. So you go to number four. All right and then take care of whatever bets they might want.

Also, a lot of times, 17’s a very, very popular number for a lot of roulette players and they’ll do something like a round, just in case they don’t quite hit 17. And, say, if you want to bet on 17 also, a lot of times what people will try to do, they’ll try to do something like this where you know they’re trying to like not mix everybody’s money up, but the reason why you were all given different color chips is so that the dealer will be able to differentiate one player from the other. So feel free to just stack your money wherever you’d like and then other players can follow suit if they wish. And then they’ll take care of exactly who got paid what later.

A lot of times people want to bet on zero and double zero. A lot of people don’t know this, but there is what’s known as a courtesy line. It’s this line right here between the second and third twelve where, if you were to put your money right there, that’s the same as betting it on zero and double zero. It’s the exact same bet and it’s the courtesy line. They call it such so you don’t have to reach all the way across the table or bother anybody for it because it’s a popular enough of a bet that it’s right there. Not to be confused with here, because this is nothing. This is not a bet at all. But this is. Also, when you’re at a really busy table, there will usually be a boundary to the dealer’s left. Please don’t cross that boundary because you’ll get in a lot of trouble with casino staff, but also it makes it a little harder for the dealer to actually go and work and do his thing. But other than that, when the dealer will spin the wheel and whatever number’s going to come out, the dealer’s going to make a signal for no more bets. When he says no more bets, don’t make any more bets, because what’s going to happen, he’s just going to have to pull your bets down. And, as it turns out here, number 35 went out and nobody’s home. And also, don’t scream at the dealer if that happens. That’s roulette etiquette.

Basic Roulette Strategy https://howcast.com/videos/511523-basic-roulette-strategy-gambling-tips/ Thu, 18 Apr 2013 19:03:56 +0000 https://howcast.com/videos/511523-basic-roulette-strategy-gambling-tips/

Transcript

Hey, guys. I just wanted to talk to you guys about roulette strategy. There are plenty of ways that you can tackle this game and no way is more right than the other. I’ll just go into some methods.

What a lot of players like to do, especially newer players, what they prefer to do, is they’ll come up to a table with a certain amount of chips that they may have gotten from playing Blackjack or Craps or whatever. They’ll come up to the table and play $20 on red. There will usually be a big board on there saying what numbers came out, what colors there were, and everything like that. So, a player will come up and bet $20 on red because he thinks red is coming up or red is due or something like that. That’s one way to tackle it.

Then you have another strategy, which I’m not really a big fan of but a lot of people are, where they basically grind. Where they will put money on 2 2:1 bets, either the dozens or one of the columns. Basically, they’ll just sit and wait. So what happens here is that they’ll put $15 on the first 12 then the third 12 with the hopes that even if they lose one, as long as they don’t lose both they’re okay. If it comes up in the first 12, then they’re going to get paid 2:1. They’re only going to lose $15 so they make $15. Or if it comes up in the third 12, then they’re going to get $30 then they’re going to lose $15 here. But one of the problems with that is what happens if it lands on second 12 and I take them both. Also, we have the 0 and 00. Those are neither first 12, second 12, or third 12. So if one of those comes up then you lose also.

You’ve got a lot of other players and what they’ll generally do, and they have their favorite numbers. You can really choose whichever numbers you like. Some people go with birthdays. Mine would be 9/17. Or people go with the date, or “Okay, my son’s 28 years old.” Or they’ll go with, “Okay, my favorite numbers are 7 and 11.” You can pick whichever numbers you want or whichever way. It just matters that if the ball lands in your number or your series of numbers, you’re good.

The way I generally like to play is I like to bet the corners. I’ve mentioned it in another video. With that it pays 8:1, so you spin the wheel and 13 comes up then I get paid 8:1. So now I’ve got $8 from this 1 that now I’ll just try to go for a streak where I’ll maybe triple up or keep it in the same spot or something else. But then if this hits again, or even if it doesn’t, I’ve still made a couple of dollars. If it hits then I get another $24. Then maybe I’ll triple it up again and try to maximize the money in a short period of time.

But no way is right because there’s always the 5.3% house edge on the game. With the exception to this bet here, which is called the Top Line. Very few people actually bet this bet, it’s the 5 numbers. It pays 6:1. The numbers are kind of off compared to everything else that roulette pays. The house edge on that is actually pushing about 8%. So by one strategy, if you’re going to play roulette, don’t make this bet. Otherwise, good luck to you.

And those are some basic roulette strategies.

Hi, guys. I wanted to show you how to play roulette. It’s actually a pretty
straightforward game. You have a table here; you’ve got numbers 1-36 and 0
and 00. You’ve got a wheel that matches all the numbers here on the board.
First thing you need to do is come up and get chips. You can use chips that
you may have had from another table from other gambling, but in roulette,
we usually use different color, non-denominational chips. This is basically
something, so that, everybody else could play all these different colors
and for the house to keep track of who to pay and who to take. When you
come in, usually you get a stack of, say, $50 or something like that.

The dealer gives you $50, and you’re ready to go. You could put your chips in any
spot that you’d like; table minimums are usually posted, usually they’re
about $5 or $10. In the case of a $10 table, what you will need to do is
keep in mind that there are two areas of the table. First, we have the
outside, which takes care of all of the 1-18 even/odd, black/red, and all
of the even bets. Then we have the first 12, second 12, and third 12, which
cover these respective areas. Also, we have a columns bet which takes care
of the entire column of numbers. That’s the outside. If you’re gonna bet
the outside, you need to bet the table minimum on each spot there. The area
inside, this is the fun part, here – the inside, you have to bet a total
of $10 at a $10 table, and you can put them any way you like. And the way
that the chips go, you can put them on any single number, or you can put
them on any series of numbers, to cover certain areas that you may want to
cover.

The more numbers that you cover, the better your chances of winning, but
the less you’ll actually get paid. And the way that it works is as follows:
if you’re betting on any one of these here, odd/even, high/low, black/red,
they all pay even money. If you’ve got 1-18, number 14 comes up,
you get paid even money; one to one. If you were playing one of these
numbers here, say if you’re playing second 12, and the ball lands on number
17, then you would win here, but then it pays two to one.

Also, if you have a bet down on the columns, it’s the same thing. If 15
comes up, and it’s in this column, this gets paid two to one. And inside
numbers is where it gets a little more interesting, where you can bet a
number straight out. Say, if number 13 comes up on this bet, you get paid
35 to 1. You could also put them on the line, to signify that you want to
put money on more than one number at a time. This chip here, it covers 13
and 14. This is a two-number bet, this pays 17 to 1. The same would be
here, which covers 7 and 10, or here, which covers a single 0 and 1. Also,
if you wanna bet on three numbers at a time, you can do that. This is
called a streak, where you have the money on 10, 11, or 12 – any of
these numbers comes out when you’re betting this, it gets paid 11 to 1.
Also, the number three bet which we have here is called the “basket,” which
is a 0, 00, and 2; it’s the same thing, if one of these numbers comes out,
it gets paid 11 to 1.

Then you have a four-number bet. It’s called a corner, where you’re gonna
bet, let’s see, 13, 14, 16, and 17. This is actually my favorite bet, here.
And one of these four numbers comes out, then it gets paid 8 to 1. Then you
have a five-number bet; it’s the only five-number bet on the board. You
have 0. 00, 1, 2, 3; these five numbers, and this pays out 6 to 1.

And then last, we have what’s called the “line bet,” which is these six
numbers, and when you have them in a line like this, this covers 13-18, and
if one of these numbers comes out, it pays 5 to 1.

And, basically, what happens is that people will put their money on a whole
bunch of different numbers, and then see the guy here, who wants to put,
like, 10 all even, and he wants to put a whole lot on the second 12. And
what happens, spin the wheel, dealer waves no more bets, and
we find out that the number was 20 – which covers this bet right here, so
then losers get wiped off the table, and as it turns out, those are both
even, and it’s in the second 12, which would pay 2 to 1. So, that’s his
money. I’ll just count this out. So, it would be 20. In the case that
the dealer doesn’t have enough chips, then they would pay you
in cash. These chips that you can take to any other table. That takes
care of that. And then these bets here, these 17 to 1, that’s four times,
so that’s $68, of which you’d probably get $3, second, and then some
combination.

And this comes off the table, and then you’re able to take off or place
your bets again. And that’s how to play roulette.

Cutting Tiles & Tile Deliveries in Pai Gow https://howcast.com/videos/511521-cutting-tiles-deliveries-in-pai-gow-gambling-tips/ Thu, 18 Apr 2013 18:41:57 +0000 https://howcast.com/videos/511521-cutting-tiles-deliveries-in-pai-gow-gambling-tips/

As we’ve talked in other videos in this series, you can bank in Pai Gow tiles when you’re playing against other players. A lot of times in the East Coast casinos they actually don’t let you touch the tiles, because they’re really worried about game security. On the West Coast they’re a little bit more lenient with that. But either way, you can let the dealer know exactly what you want to move. Like say, if you want to move this tile over here and you want to move this off to the side, before the tiles come up.

A lot of times people want to try to do their part to influence who’s going to end up getting what. Like when these dice get rolled to determine who gets the stack. And another cool thing about it is that you have the option of different types of deliveries, because here you have what’s just known as the house way. If not otherwise specified, this is how the tiles go out. They just go out to players in this kind of motion until it comes back to the dealer.

But then there a couple of other ways that you can set them. One way is called Cup Say where it goes with the two stacks here, and instead of it being vertical stacks like that, they go out to the players like this. That’s a popular way of doing. Also there’s another Jung Quat, which roughly translates to from the heart. Where it comes from the middle, and it’s the same idea with the four stacks, you know with the four dominoes on top and it goes to the next stack, then the next like that.

Then you have Chee Yee, which roughly translates to ears. A lot of time, we’ll just kind of do that at the table and we’ll look right at the dealer. Then it’s the same thing, but it’s out to the side this way. One thing I like about different tile deliveries, it tends to slow the game down a little bit more, because a lot times it’s like “Oh, I’ll play for time.”

So the longer I’m there then we’ll have the free hookups and everything like that, so I try to maximize my time at the table. Also you have a delivery, Dragon Head Phoenix Tail. Dragon – Phoenix, you get the option you could actually have the tail come first or the head come first. You let the dealer know before she deals. It comes out like that. There are a couple other tile deliveries.

There’s another, which is just a straight tower where it comes out this way. There are a few other ways to do it. A lot of casinos have different rules, as to what deliveries are allowed and which ones aren’t. This is one of my favorites. This one is Shut the Door where it basically comes out this way, which makes it almost as theatrical as Pai Gow gets anyway, kind of thing. Then from there play would continue. You can only go with the tile deliveries, if you’re banking. If you want a more elegant part of Pai Gow, you might want to give that a try. That’s Pai Gow tile deliveries.

Hey, guys. I just wanted to go into how to bank in Pai Gow. It’s one of the few casino games where you’re actually allowed to play against the player as opposed to playing against the house. How that works? Basically, according to house rules, you can just ask to bank. Depending on where you are, on the East Coast casinos, the dealer takes care of all of the handling of the tiles. But on the West Coast, they give you the tiles and you can handle them, and then make them look however you want. You can’t turn them up and look at them. But, otherwise, if you want them a certain way. If you want to kind of do one of these and mess around with them. There’s a lot of times, this game is shrouded in a lot of superstition and people have their ways of doing things.

But then, when you bank, basically, the tiles go around the table and the dealer will place a bet whatever you bet last. Last time you weren’t banking, the dealer will put this up and she’ll playing against you. And then you’ll be playing against all the other players, as well.

So, what happens then. You’ll need to have enough money to cover whatever happens in the hand. The players will take their time setting their hands however they need to set them. In this case here, the tiles, when they get set, they normally get set this way with whatever your high hand’s going to be going horizontally, your low hand going vertically. And some places will require you to just make two stacks, either way.

So, then, everybody sets their tiles however they feel that they should.

The banker will set his the way that he wants to set his. The dealer sets up her hand how she feel she needs to. In the case here, we’ve got a 5, a 6 and then a 9. And then a Gong, because you’ve got a 12 and an 8. So you have 5 Gong. That guy’s got 7-8, so that’s a push. And then the dealer’s out because they’re playing against each other now. You’ve got a 3 and then a 4, which means he wins his $100. They take the commission out, 5 percent, and pay him on that hand. And it moves over. 6, 6 Gong which does not beat his 7-8, so that’s a push. So, in this hand, he banked and he won one bet.

And that’s how you bank in Pai Gow.

Hey, guys. I wanted to go into how to set your tiles in Pai Gow.

When the deal comes, you get four tiles. You’re going to be playing against the dealer. I’ll leave the bets off for sake of simplicity here. The dealer will be banking, so you’re playing against the dealer. We’ll just use this guy as an example. Now this is where you take into account pairs in the game, and then also the other tiles, the individual tiles that can be used to make a hand the way that you want. For any hand in Pai Gow, there are three ways that you can set it. You can either do them this way, or you can do them this way, or this way.

There are three ways that you can set any hand, a lot of times people want to go for balance. Instead of doing one really high and one really low hand, they want to have something that’s kind of in the middle, unless it can be avoided. In the case here, see, to set it this way, you’ve got a four, and then you’ve got a ten. Which adds up to fourteen, we get rid of the first digit, so this is a four. This hand here, it’s a two, and then this is four, alright, this is a twelve, and then four and then makes sixteen. So this makes a six. So right now, you have a hand of four and six, if you were to set it this way. This tile here, makes this six the highest possible six you can make out of any of the hands. This here, this is a pretty strong four, so that makes a pretty good four to play. But, as it turns out here, we actually have a pair. We have a pair, so this is the only way to play this particular hand. You have a pair, and then you have a two. And you have the strongest possible because you have this twelve domino here.

In the case with this hand, you have three ways to set it, like I said. This is a four, because this can be played as a three or a six. So it’d be better to play it as a six, because otherwise this would be a one. So this is the four, because you have, it’s the six plus the eight, is fourteen, it becomes a four. Then here, you have a nine and a ten, this makes nineteen, and it just makes it a nine. Which, nines are not bad.

So, that’s the way you could play it like that, with a four, and then a nine. But a lot of times people want to makes things a little more balanced. Since this can be a three, or a six, this goes over here, this goes over here. Instead, we have a hand that’s a six, because you have the six and then the ten. And then you have an eight and a nine. So this is a six and a seven. The hand here, we have one of these combinations that I was talking about, where you can make a gong, where you have the two or a twelve, and then an eight. Which is better than a nine, but not as good as a pair. Then you have your other hand. A lot of times people will play it this way, just because it’s just the easiest way it goes. So this would be three, and then that’s a gong. So, you probably won’t win, but you probably won’t lose, either.

Here, we mentioned that we had a couple of non-identical pairs. This is one of them, the five and the five. So then here, you have thirteen, which goes down to a three. And then you have a pair. Which would all goes against the dealer, who would play his hand the way that he has to play it, and as it turns out, he doesn’t have a whole lot going on. He’s got a five and a six. Because he’s got a four and eleven, and then the six and the ten. In that case here, this player here would win. This player here would push, because he only has a two on the bottom, he’s got a pair up top. This would be a push as well, because it would be a three, and then the gong, and then this would be a push, as well, because he has a pair, and then the three.

And that is how to set your tiles in Pai Gow.

Hey guys. I wanted to go into a game that I was very excited about covering, because I couldn’t find any videos on it online when I was first learning. Hopefully I’ll be able to teach you all also. This is how to play Pai Gow Tiles.

In this game, there are 32 dominos. Each player will place a bet. Four players here. Dice are rolled, usually it’s in a cup, and it determines who would go first. So, these come off to the side. Dealer gets his. Every player gets a stack. The object of the game is to have two sets of two tiles that both beat the dealer. Sounds a little confusing, but this, I’ll be honest, it is. But hopefully I’ll be able to demystify this game with you in this series. So, players will get their tiles face up, these are tiles that are all based on Chinese imagery. And basically, the object of the game is to set your tiles in a way where you feel that you’re going to be able to beat the dealer. And all of these are by point value here. This is an eight, and this is a ten, alright. We go with the last digit, so this is actually an eight. And the highest you can get without any special pairs and things like that is nine. This here is an eight. And this here would be six, and 11. So this is a seven, because you know, seventeen, we chop off the one. This here is five and four, so that’s a nine. With these hands here, all right, so this would be a four, because you have an eight, and a six. So this would be 14. These tiles are special, there’s a three and a special six, which is made out of four two. This would count as a three or a six. So here, in this case, it would be six plus the three, so that’s a nine. That’s not too bad. Then here with this, we have a pair, which is better than a nine. And then we’ve got right here, this would be a seven, and then a six, so this is three. And then the pair.

The object is to beat the dealer, who has to play his hand a certain way. And in the case here, he’s got a five, and then a nine. So right here, five beats this one here, but it doesn’t beat the pair. So that’s a push. If you win one, lose one, it’s a push. And here, this is a four, and then the nine. So this nine, because it’s made out of this tile, confused yet? Just because this nine is better than this nine, but this four is worse than this five. So that’s also a push. Here you’ve got a seven and a nine. This nine beats this nine. But then, this seven beats this five. So that’s a push. And then we’ve got an eight and a seven. We’ve got eight, eight, and an eight, alright, so then, the eight beats the dealer, but then the nine beats him. So then that’s a push. Confused yet? I know. It’s a game where you push a lot of times, and the house edge is actually pretty low in the game, and actually it works out to your favor if you actually know how to play. We’ll go into more detail about hands and rankings, and what beats what and how do you beat the dealer in a later video.

Hey, guys. I’m going to teach you about Pai Gow. Originally, we were going to go into how to play the game, but to understand the game, it’s probably a good idea to understand the tiles and exactly how everything here works.

Here we have a set of Chinese dominos, there are 32 of them to a set. And right now I have them arranged in pairs. And we basically have them set from high to low, this being the highest pair. My Chinese is horrible, in English it just means supreme pair, so I’ll just say that.

And then it goes into all these identical pairs up until here. You’ll notice here we have, some tiles that are not identical, but they are still pairs, like these two nines, these two eights, right, and these two sevens, these two fives.

So, and with that, then you’ll be able to understand the game a little bit better after this video. Here you’ll notice that we do have sixes but they’re different styles. And everything’s already paired up, so as a pair these two tiles together beat anything else, and then these two would be the next powerful, and it goes all the way down to the mixed five, which even if it’s the lowest pair it’s also still very strong.

Also, part of this game are special combinations called wongs and gongs. What it is, like any two or twelve domino with a nine makes up a wong. It’s not as strong as a pair, but it’s pretty close, right? The next from there, combinations called gongs, which are a two or a twelve and an eight. So with your hand if you’re not able to make a pair or one of these then the object of the game is to get as close to nine as possible. Still confused? That’s okay, I’ll go over all the basics in this series so that you’ll know how to play pai gow.

Hey guys, I just want to show you how to play Five Card Draw. It’s not poker game that you’re going to find in any casino. It’s more of a home game and an old bar/saloon type of thing.

Basically, we’ve got four players here. Every player gets five cards face down. There’s never a dedicated dealer on this game, it usually gets passed around the table. So, I’ll act as this player here, lift the hand so you can see what I’ve got. So, basically there’s a round of betting first up, so I’m going to move these over here. This player’s first so, so he wants to bet 10, then everybody else can call. They can fold, they can raise. It can be played limit or no limit, that’s really up to you. So, say he wants to raise to 20, and say, it’s really not that good, but why not. Alright, and everybody else wants to call. Alright, so this all now goes into a pot.

Now, I choose. You could keep whichever card you want and throw away whichever ones you want, but I’ll choose to keep two, and I draw three. Alright, so whatever cards those are. Alright, and lets say that this player here wants to draw one card, so the he gets his one. This player here decides to throw in the two, he gets two, and this player here, he wants to throw away three, so he gets three.

Now everybody’s got their hands, now they’re set, because there was a draw and you know, I could put the cards down. Now there’s another round of betting, so we’ll just say everybody wants to bet 20, and everybody calls. This all goes into the pot and now whoever has the best hand wins.

So right here, three 6’s, it’s pretty good. This hand here, player’s got a Ace high. Player here’s got a Jack high, and player here’s got a King high. So in this case here, three 6’s win the pot. And that’s how you play Five Card Draw.

Hey guys. I just wanted to go into how to play Let it Ride. Basically it’s a game that’s played against the house and it’s popular in many casinos. You’ll see here we have three stacks and basically these represent individual bets. The player will get three cards face down, but I will put them face up just so everybody knows what’s going on here. One card gets burned here. As you can see the player here has a pair of Aces already. So the player’s a winner no matter what, which is good for him. Normally you would have the option, if you didn’t have the Ace, if you wanted to pull one of these bets back then this would come back this way.

Since he already has a pair of Aces, he’s going to let it ride. Then the dealer shows another card, which doesn’t really matter for him because he’s got a pair of Aces and he’s going to win either way. So he decides he’s going to let it ride, another card comes up. These are community cards here, which is going to help make his five card hand. Right now his five card hand is the Aces with the 10 and then the 9 and the 2. Since he did get 10s or better each bet gets paid even money for the one pair. Then play continues if he likes to.

Then you have the payouts, they range anywhere from even money for one pair of 10s or better. If you get two pair it pays 2 to 1 and these odds go all the way up. If you do manage to get a Royal Flush and let it ride each bet gets paid 1,000 to 1.

Hey guys, I just wanted to go into the habit of playing No Limit Hold ‘Em, just the base rules of the game.

Here we got our players and we got our blinds posted 5 and 10. I’ve got the 2 cards face down, now in another video we talked about about limit hold ’em and like the betting restrictions there. In no limit there are no restrictions, which can be good or a bad thing depending on how you play.

So, here let’s say he decides he wants to call. Here, with his bet just decides that he wants to call as well. Now, he’s got the option he could either check or he can raise. He decides to raise, now with limit hold em he would have to raise $10, but here he can raise as much as he wants. And say, in this case here he wants to raise $25. Alright, so now players here would have to bet 25 if they wanted to stay in the hand. So here, say he wants to call, and then he wants to fold. Alright so this goes in the pot, this goes in his well. Alright, now we have a flop.

Okay. Now here in no limit, you don’t have to bet 10 if you don’t to. If you want bet more than that, your more than welcome to. Another thing, a lot of players have heard the terminology ‘all in.’ What that means, is that he basically pushes it all in, and now he’s betting all of his chips. All players here started with the same amount, that’s just for the sake of making things simple here. So let’s see, he decides to call alright? So now everything matches up, alright. And in a hold em game, also in a cash game you don’t have to show your cards right away but in poker tournaments, if you ever see some tournaments that they’ll show on TV, they’ll actually have them turn the cards up. Alright, here. We actually have an interesting situation where there’s a king, jack, and a 10 but then both both players have a queen. Nobody else has like a higher card, so in this case here the best 5 card hand for both of them is king, queen, jack, 10 and 7. So in this case here, this is called a split pot. What happens here is that both players split the pot. Cards get swept up and we go to the next hand. And that’s No Limit Hold ‘Em.

Hey guys, I just wanted to go into how to play a Limit Hold ‘Em. Basically, we’ve got about three players here and we have lines posted of five and ten. Everybody’s gonna get their cards and here the big blind is ten so that’s what he’s gonna have to bet as a minimum. So say he decides to bet the ten and now the gentleman here, he’s gonna want to raise. The thing with the Limit Hold ‘Em, is that he can only raise a fixed amount, alright? In this case
you can only bet another ten.

So now if he wants to call, he’d have to bet another ten. And is he wanted a re-raise, he can, but he can only do in another ten dollar increment. So he decides he wants to go along for the ride, he’s feeling lucky also. We make this pot, card gets burned.

Alright, so he decides he wants to bet ten. Again, he would have to, if he wanted to raise, a fixed amount, ten dollars. So he wants to call. He wants to call also.

Another card gets burned, there’s the have a turn. Let’s just say everybody wants to check. And then there’s the river. So everybody wants to check again. So now, whoever’s got the best five card hand, which in the case here, we have a pair of queens, would take the pot. And that’s Limit Hold ‘Em
