How to Do an Easy Salsa Dip

Transcript

Henry: Hi guys, it’s Henry and Ashley, and we’re going to show you a easy salsa dip. So let’s demonstrate it for you. It goes one, two, three, five, six, seven. One, two, three, five, seven. One, two, three, five, six, seven. One, two, three, five, seven. One.

Ashley: Now, let’s break it down.

Henry: Exactly. So the basic step in salsa right is, you know, and if not you just catch up with us here. It’s simple. You go forward, forward with the left, and then back with the right.

Ashley: Girls, back with the right, and forward with the left. We’re dancing the basic here on one.

Henry: Yes. It goes one, two, three, five, six ,seven. And then hold this over like so. You put your hand on the lady’s back, like in regular Latin dancing where you just are chilling and enjoying the music.

Now, to the dip. It’s going to happen on count number five. So what you’re going to do, the leaders, is you do a half a basic two, three, and you’re going to open to your left side. Yeah? At the same time, make sure you’re bringing the lady with you. So you go, one, two, three. You’re going to put your left hand and your left shoulder, that will make the lady’s right arm to go on top of you. Okay? It’s going to be the security part.

Ashley: And that lead is important, guys, because if not the girl might think that you’re leading her into a cross body lead.

Henry: Exactly. So let’s do it one more time. You do one, two, three, that’s the count number three. Yeah? Show one more time. One, two, three. From here we’re going to do the same dip technique that we just explained like we did before. And all you do guys, is you twist to your left and you bend your right knee. Yes?

Ashley: Now girls, you’re going to make it fancy and you’re going to style through. I really just take my arm down off his shoulder and I reach out and I lengthen through my arm. Never bend the arm. You don’t want a little chicken arm. Make sure you make a nice line. It just makes it fancier. You can go around the head and come out.

Henry: So you have the arm free so you actually can do anything you wish. Yes. Yes. So we’re going to do the basic step. One, two, three, five, six, seven. One, two, open on three, put your left hand on your left shoulder guys, that will make the lady’s right arm to go on your shoulder. And then you twist to the left and then you swing her back and go back to your basic step. Five, six, seven.

Ashley: Now girls, if you really like the guy I’ll show you a little different style you can do with it. You reach, and here I’m going to stay focused on this. It’s the same thing, same dip, because I’m like, “yeah”. So you have options.

Henry: And then you get the phone number right there.

Ashley: Yes.

Henry: Yes? So let’s do it with the music for you guys. So we do basic step. One, two, three, five, six, seven. One, two, three, five, six, seven. One, two, three, five, seven. One, two, five, six, seven. One, two. You can also slow it down if you wish. One, two, three, five, six, seven. One, two, three, five, six, seven. You want more of a intimate feeling. Yes? Or sharpen, sharpen, sharpen, good move. And. Five, six, seven. One. And that’s it.

Ashley: So there you have your basic dip in salsa.

Henry: And we have it in a smooth version and a sharp version. Okay? So you can apply both to it.
