Hi! I’m Andy, the magic man, Segal. I’m here at Willow Billiards in Hoboken, New Jersey, doing some trick shots and pool instruction. So if you’re ready, let’s get started. Alright, so for draw shots, you have to go back to the stop shot video and make sure you know that first. The stop shot video, you wanted the ball to slide when it got to the fourteen; in the draw shot, you want it to be spinning backwards when it gets to the fourteen. Which means, sliding out here somewhere, and wherever it slides, that depends on how much draw you put on the ball. The more draw you put on the ball, the further it will go when it slides. So for example, if I want the cue ball to slide somewhere over here, I’m gonna shoot it past the fourteen so you can see – shoot it like this, and then it slid right over here. But if I wanted to draw a little less, maybe I want it to slide over here – so it slid over here. So now, hitting the ball, what’s happening is when the cue ball gets to the ball, it’s actually spinning backwards so the cue ball will then pick up the friction and spin backwards. Kinda like this. Now, a common mistake when players are shooting is they have a ball hanging in the pocket and they figure, “I want to shoot it with backspin to prevent the cue ball from falling in and scratching”. Well, if they put backspin on it, but the backspin runs out somewhere over here and slides, it’s now going to turn into follow and it will probably follow it in and scratch. Kinda like that. You want to make sure if you’re shooting a shot like that, you put enough backspin on the ball that will carry it past the ball and that slide will happen beyond it, so it will still pull back. Kinda like that.
