How to Control the Speed of the Cue Ball in Pool

Transcript

Hi, I’m Andy “the Magic Man” Segal. I’m here at Willow Billiards in Hoboken, New Jersey. Doing some trick shots and full instructions. So if you’re ready, let’s get started. Alright now, how hard or how soft you hit the cue ball is pretty important when you’re talking about position play. Most shots you don’t really need to use a lot of english. You can just control the cue ball based on how hard or soft you hit it. So, as an example we’re gonna shoot the ten in the side. We’re gonna just roll the cue ball down. We wanna get a nice shot on the twelve ball next. So we don’t wanna hit the cue ball too hard, we’re just gonna roll it nice and easy. The cue ball should stop right there for a good shot at the twelve But let’s say. Let’s say instead of having the twelve ball there. Let’s say the twelve ball was off the table. And we had this same shot. Now we don’t wanna roll the ball that softly. Because if it stops down there you won’t have a good shot at the eight. So we’re gonna hit the cue ball a little bit harder so it bounces off the rail and comes out here.
