Hi, I’m Dan Garcia. I’m going to explain to you how I did this technique called pulgar-indice, which means thumb index.
Okay, we said in the previous video that the thumb will always play a rest stroke technique, okay? Coming from the wrist, to get as much sound as possible. Now what I’m doing with my index is for every thumb note I play, I play an index on the upbeat.
Thumb this note, I play the index, and since your index should always be leaning on the first string, it’s a pretty easy technique to tackle, so thumb, index up. Thumb down, index up. Okay, the best way to practice this is really doing some kind of chromatic scales.
Something like this, speed it up as you feel comfortable with the technique. Then what I was playing before was just a simple Malaguena Compas. Thumb index, have fun playing that.
