- Step 1: For this strum, the pattern is: down, down, up, down. Pause for a half beat after the first down stroke and a full beat after the second. Note that the first down stroke is less pronounced than the others.

Let’s do a second strum, right? This will be a variation on the one we just learned. And the strum sounds like this: I’m going down, down, up, down. Down, down, up, down. So if you notice, that first one is not that important, that first strum. I’m doing just a little bit of the guitar here, I’m just strumming a little bit. So I’m going down, down, up down. Down, down, up down.
So how about we use the same chords we’ve been using here – G major, E minor, C major, and D major. And what if we say “”Okay, let’s do the strum twice per chord.”” So what does that mean? I’m going G, G, G, G. G, G, G, G. Then I’m going to quickly move to E minor and do the same thing. E, E, E, E. E, E…”” Then to C. And then I’m going to do the same thing to D. So let’s try to put it together, all right? So we have G, G…E minor…C…D…let’s try that again, All right? So G…E minor…C major, all right, without stopping…D…There you go. That could be your second strum.
