How to Play Strum Pattern #4 on Guitar

Transcript

Okay, fourth strum, right?

So what we’re going to do is take a couple of the strums we had already and we’re going to put them together.

The first strum we did is, baa, baa baa, baa baa. Put that aside for a second.

The third strum we did is, down, down down, up, up down, down.

So we’re going to kind of smoosh those together and, when we do, it sounds like this.

Down, down, up, up down, up down, down.

The first half is sort of like that first strum and the second half is sort of like that third strum. Right?

So, baa, baa baa, baa baa, da daa, da.

Down, down, up, up down, up down, down.

Now, this doesn’t come up as much as the first strum or as much as the third strum, but it does come up.

Down, down, up, up down, up down, down.

Let’s try to do that with some of the chords we know.

We have G, E minor, C, and D. They all sound nice together.

So here we go. I’m going to do that strum once on G.

Down, down, up, up down, up down, down.

Then I’m going to move to E minor and do the same thing.

Down, down, up, up down, up down, down.

Now how about C? C is the hard one to get to but hopefully you’re getting used to it now.

Down, down, up, up down, up down, down.

And then D.

Down, down, up, up down, up down, down.

So, let’s try to put it all together. This time I’m going to do it and I’m not going to stop.

Down, up, down.

Let’s try to go around again.

So we have G.

E minor.

C.

And D.

And then we’ll finish off on G.

And there you go. That could be another variation of the strums we know.
