How to Use Double Stops a Solo

Transcript

Hi, this is Stephanie Sanders from Tomato’s House of Rock and I’m going to show you how to use a double stop in your solo. Double stop, all that really means is either adding the one or the five to the other notes that you’re already playing in the scale.

If you’re in the key of C, our one is our C. So the sound is really just putting a C on top. So we might say like, if I was going to play the pattern, interesting. If I add in the C to give it the double stop feel, I get. So again, it just makes it a little thicker, a little bit more interesting.

So you can use that with the one on top or you can do it with the five on top. The five would be G, and here’s what it would sound like a little bit. Either way, it’s going to give you a great umph to your solo. Let’s hear what it sounds like with some music. That’s how you play a double stop in a solo.
