How to Pick Paintball Gear

Transcript

My name is Mike Peverill. I’m here at Pev’s Paintball Park in Aldie, Virginia. I’ve been playing paintball nearly 30 years. I’ve played professional paintball with numerous pro teams all over the world. This facility here was built from the ground up for paintball, kind of like a paintball Disney Land. Our website is www.pevs.com. Hopefully you can come out and visit us sometime.

Choosing paintball gear is not complicated, but at the same time, you want to pay attention to what you’re doing, because it depends on your style of play. When people buy their own paintball gear, sometimes they come out thinking I’m just gonna need this super high-end race car, and so they’re going to go for something like a DM11 or a Planet Eclipse Ego, which you’re gonna spend a grand just in the gun and then all the accessories to make it work. But then if you’re just a recreational paintball player where you’re looking to be more competitive, but at the same time play for fun, sneaky, stealthy, then you want to think about a different type of gear. And that’s why it’s important to think about your style play. Your style play is going to dictate what equipment you buy. So when you come out, decide what you want to do.

Do you want to play tournament paintball? Where you wanna feel like you’re a superstar or a sports athelete, and you’re running at 100 miles an hour? Or do you wanna be the stealthy, sneaky, you know, chess match, we’re out on the field, hiding, sneaking around, kind of Rambo-style paintball?

That will determine what kind of paintball gear you’re gonna choose. Then once you do that, then come into a pro shop, tell them what your style of play is, and they’re gonna set you down with the basics to understand what you need to do, what type of equipment you need to be outfitted with. And they’re gonna outfit you with everything from a paintball gun, to the goggles, to the harness packs, to the air systems, to the loaders. And to include also which paintballs work best with your paintball gun.
