Hey. This is Troy Roberts and we’re going to talk about the chromatic scale on the alto saxophone today.
Chromatic scale, whether it’s a scale or chromaticism, is just a series of half steps. Consecutive half steps.
To initially approach this you could take D to D. One octave and play chromatic. So, on the alto saxophone that will be like this.
Then it’s important to also apply some other things you might be practicing. Like articulation or rhythm. Putting on a metronome. Making them 16ths or triplets.
So articulated it might sound like. That’s back tongued. Or articulated.
