Motorcycle Controls

Transcript

Hi, my name is Joonil Park for Howcast, and this video is about motorcycle controls. A motorcycle has two types of controls. Primary controls, which control the operation of the motorcycle. And secondary controls, things that control lights and electrics. The primary controls on the right side essentially are everything that make you speed up and slow down.

We have the throttle located in the right hand grip, which you twist towards you to feed it more throttle, and roll off forward to close the throttle. Both brakes are also located on the right side of the motorcycle. We have the front brake, and the rear brake pedal for your right foot. On the left side, we have everything that controls the transmission.

We have your clutch, which connects and disconnects power when you squeeze it in. And your shift lever, which is controlled by your left foot. You want to work these controls in conjunction, and because motorcycling is all about multitasking. You want to get to the point where you practice these enough so that they come second nature, and you can use them without thinking about it.

Because guess what, eventually, when you’re out there in the streets, you have more important things to think about and look at than your hands and feet. Thanks.
