Hi, my name is Sam Lipman. I’m a multi-instrumentalist. I make records and I will be releasing my first solo debut record here in the fall called ‘A’ for Aphorisms. Check it out samlipmanmusic.com. We are gonna be playing some slap bass. So in this segment, I wanna talk about how to, how to take a single bass line and spice it up with a few little fills. The simpler you can keep it, the more calls you’ll get for gigs. Let’s take a grove like this, kinda like the one we learned in the first chapter. Okay, there’s a simple groove, now I’m gonna put a fill in, that used hammering and pull off. The occasional hammer-on, okay that used a bit of syncopation, did you hear it? That combined a little bit of syncopation with a little bit of pulling. Let’s look at something else. Now I’m gonna add a bit of syncopation. Now I’m gonna add a double stop. Now I’m using lots of syncopation right there. How fun was all of that?
