Hi, I’m Joe D’Andrea, a Pokemon professor at Comic Cafe in Warren New Jersey, and we’re here to show you how to play the Pokemon trading card game.
So now you’re serious about collecting these cards, what are you going to look for? Well first you might look for rare cards, you might look for extremely rare cards, picture holo cards. In fact some people collect entire sets of reverse holos. You might want to collect an entire set, have a collection, so every card in a sequence will be in your binder. You might have a favorite Pokemon you want to collect — that’s fair game, too. So now, you know what you’re collecting, where are you going to get it? You can buy these cards in toy and hobby shops, comic book shops, you can buy them online, even in department stores. Anywhere games are sold, there’s a good chance you’re going to find these trading cards. Pokemon cards come in a variety of products. The most popular are of course the ten-card booster packs. Another kind would be a theme deck — that’s a pre-made deck of 60 cards. This is also where you’re going to find a lot of your energy cards. If you really want to get a lot of booster packs in one shot, you can buy an entire box of 36 booster packs. There are also blister packs, collectible tins. These are 40 cards plus a promo. And then there’s the collection box. This features an oversized card, a promo card, and 4 booster packs.
