How to Make Mud Cake

Instructions

  • Step 1: Preheat oven Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Step 2: Make the batter Combine the butter, sugar, 1 teaspoon of the vanilla extract, and the eggs in a mixing bowl, beating them thoroughly together.
  • Step 3: Mix dry ingredients Mix the flour, baking powder, cocoa powder, and salt in another mixing bowl. Add this and the chopped pecans to the batter and blend thoroughly.
  • Step 4: Pour batter Pour the batter into a greased baking pan and place in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  • Step 5: Spread marshmallows Spread marshmallows over the top of the cake as soon as it is taken out of the oven, and then put it back in for two minutes so that the marshmallows melt.
  • Step 6: Mix frosting Mix the butter, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and the remaining vanilla extract.
  • TIP: If the frosting comes out too dry, add more milk.
  • Step 7: Add frosting Spread the frosting mixture over the top of cake as soon as it is removed from the oven the second time. Allow the cake to cool before cutting and serving.
