How to Make Baked Alaska

Instructions

  • Step 1: Line the bowl with plastic Line the large bowl with plastic wrap, allowing some overhang.
  • Step 2: Fill with ice cream Fill the bowl with the sorbet and ice cream of your choice.
  • TIP: To soften the ice cream, beat it for a few moments with the electric mixer.
  • Step 3: Add crumbs Sprinkle chocolate wafer crumbs generously over the ice cream and sorbet mixture.
  • Step 4: Add pound cake Slice the pound cake into small pieces and completely cover the ice cream. Then cover the bowl with plastic wrap and freeze it for at least 3 hours.
  • Step 5: Make the meringue Make the meringue by whipping the egg whites with the electric mixer, creating soft peaks. Then slowly beat in the sugar and vanilla.
  • Step 6: Overturn the cake Remove the plastic from the bowl and overturn it into a baking pan.
  • Step 7: Spread the meringue Spread the meringue over the cake and freeze it for at least 1 hour.
  • TIP: You can prepare and freeze the cake up to 2 days in advance.
  • Step 8: Bake the cake Preheat your oven to 500 degrees and bake the cake for 5 minutes, or until the meringue is golden, and serve.
