How to Make a Fondant Goldfish

Transcript

So now I’m going to show you how to make a goldfish. We’re going to take our pre-made orange fondant. Take a little less than a golf ball size. Roll it in some of our corn starch so that it’s not too sticky. And I’m going to roll it into a ball so it’s nice and smooth. Then I’m going to take the ball and I’m going to roll the ends into a tip which will be for his fins.

Now what I’m going to do is at the tip I’m going to pinch some of that fondant to make a nice V shape and then I’m going to pinch the other end for another V shape, which is his fin. Then what I’m going to do is the same thing at the top. Then I’m going to do the same thing at the sides. Then I’m just going to push them back.

You can use your corn starch if your hands get sticky just so that you don’t stick to your fondant animal. Then I’m going to take a tool that has a nice tip and I’m going to make his smile. Then I’m going to take a small ball tool for his eyes. Now for his eyes I’m going to use white pearls. You can find these white pearls at a craft store or a cake supply store. And we’re just going to use our water as our glue into the dents that we just made, and I’m going to add the pearls as his eyes. Then I’m going to take an edible food marker which is blue, that I’ve chosen to use, and I’m going to make his eyeball. And there you have a goldfish which can use for a sea cake or any other type of cake you would like.
