How to Make a Fondant Dinosaur

Transcript

So I’m gonna show you how to make a cute little dinosaur.

I’ve chosen to use a purple fondant color, which you can buy premade. Or you can make a dinosaur any color you’d like. So I’m just gonna take a little bit bigger than golf ball size. So I’m just gonna take it and roll it in some of our cornstarch so it doesn’t stick to my hands. And then I’m going to make a tip at the end of his body for his tail. Just roll him and then bring it out for his tail, like that.

And then what I’m going to do is just bring the front down a little bit more so it’s a little flat in the front. And now what I’m going to do is, with my finger, I’m going to pinch. This is his little dinosaur feet and legs, like so. Then I’m going to take a tool with a nice tip a the end. Just gonna make some dents into his legs, like so. And then I’m just gonna take his body and set him aside for a second while I make his head.

I’m going to take another piece of purple fondant. I’m gonna roll it into a ball. And then I’m going to just take the ends and just pinch it up so you can make his mouth, like that. And then what I’m going to do is just pinch around that little mouth we just made. And I’m going to lay him down for a second. And then I’m going to take small pieces of purple fondant, just roll them into balls and with our water I’m gonna attach them. Put them inside as his little nostrils. Then I’m gonna take the same pointed tool, make little dents and them I’m gonna take him and just leave him off to the side.

I’m gonna take his body back and then I’m going to use a tweezer or you can use your fingers and pinch up. But I’ve chosen to use a tweezer. So I’m going to make little ridges on his back. And just pinch and bring them up. And just do that going all along the back into his tale. Just pinch and bring them up, like that. And I’m also going to do one in his head. Just pinch it and bring it up. Leave that over there.

And now I’m going to add a little color to make it a little bit more fun. I’m going to take some orange fondant, roll them into little balls and then with our glue, which is our water, just going to put it on his back and then attach those little balls. Just take them and attach them and then you can flatten them out. Can make them as big or as small as you want to. Like that. Just attach a few more to his back. Likes orange. You could use yellow or red or any other color you want. Just have fun with it. And just take a little more on the other side of his back, like so.

And them I’m also going to use these little dots and use them on his head. So I’m going to take more of our glue and at the sides, I’m just gonna attach some more, like so. And them I’m gonna do it on the other side also, like this. And you can mix up the colors too if you want. Like so.

And then I’m gonna take some white fondant and make his little eyes. Add some water. Take a little piece of white fondant, flatten it out and then put them right at the front. And then with some food coloring marker just make some dots in the middle of his eyes. And then we’re gonna take our head and we’re gonna add some water which is our glue to the back of his head and we’re gonna attach it to his body. And we’re gonna wait overnight for it to dry.

And then you have a cute little dinosaur for your cakes.
