How to Make a Fondant Lion for a Jungle Theme Cake

Transcript

Now I’m gonna show you how to make a cute little lion for your jungle cake.

You’re gonna take some orange fondant, dip it in some of your cornstarch so it’s not too sticky on your hands. Just gonna roll it into maybe bigger than a golf ball size. And then I’m gonna start to make his body.

So now for his body, gonna start off as an oval shape. And then I’m just going to flatten the end because that’s where his head will be. And then for the back I’m going to pull out for his legs. So we’re gonna take his legs, this is his back leg, and I’m just gonna flatten the end out a little bit. And I’m gonna take a tool and just come up so his leg looks like it’s bending a little bit. And I’m gonna do the same thing for the rest, just take them and pull them out until you have little legs. Just take them and pull them out. I’m going to make four of them.

So now you can use your tool again just so that they’re nice and uniform with his body. Just gonna take it and we’re gonna flatten out the ends. And then we’re gonna take the same tool that we’ve been using and then make his little feet, like that. And now I’m gonna at the end I’m gonna make his little tail. Pull some out from the end. Just pull and pinch. And then I’m gonna flatten it a little bit at the end and take our pointed tool and feather it out a little bit and then just bring it up onto his body. Feather it out a little more. And then I’m going to take that and I’m going to set it aside.

And I’m gonna take another piece of the orange fondant and we roll it into a ball. We’re gonna use this for his face. Just roll it into a ball. And then I’m just going to flatten it out a little bit. And then I’m gonna make his little ear. So I’m just gonna pinch his little ears at the top. Just pinch and bring it out a little bit. And then I’m gonna use our tool that we’ve been using with the little pointed end. I’m just gonna make some dents into his ears.

And I’m gonna use that same tool and I’m gonna make his mouth. So I’m just gonna make his mouth, make a smile, like that. Make a big smile or small smile. And then I’m gonna take some pink fondant for his nose, just little false eyes piece. And then add some of our water which is our glue, and just drop it right there. And then we’re gonna take our small bowl tool, make dents for his eyes. I’m gonna take white pearls and with our glue we’re gonna add it to his dents and we’re gonna drop the pears in. And I’m just gonna set that aside so it dries a little bit.

And we’re gonna take some brown for his line here. Just gonna dip in some more cornstarch so it’s not too sticky on my hands. Then I’m gonna take a small rolling pin and I’m going to just roll it into a nice little circle shape. Just gonna roll it like this. And then what you can do is take your tip tool and just make little, little dents into his mane so it looks like scallop shape. Then we’re gonna take that piece and we’re gonna take our body back, gonna take our water which is our glue, add it to the top and then put that right there before we add his face.

I’m gonna take his face and I’m gonna take some more of our water, add it to this mane and then I’m gonna take his head and attach. And you can add some little more water to the back so we can kind of bring his mane up more, like that.

And there you have your cute little lion for your jungle cake.
