Today we’re going to discuss basic gun shop etiquette.
When purchasing a gun, the first thing you need to do is find a gun shop. The easiest way to do this, if you don’t know where one is already, you can look online, you can do a search, if you have the local yellow pages, find a gun shop that’s close to you. If you talk to people sometimes certain people will recommend some shops over others, depending on the sales people and the level of help that you get and the selection at the stores.
When you find the store and you go in, it can be very intimidating. Myself, sometimes I’d walk around, not knowing anybody and you can be intimidated. Don’t be. At most gun shops, the people are very happy to help, they’re just usually busy. Just go on in, look around, grab someone that’s working there and ask your questions. Everyone was a beginner or a first time shooter at some point so believe me, they are more than happy to help you out, answer any questions, they’ll help you select the right gun for you. If you have questions regarding licensing or anything else, they’re more than happy to do it. Most gun shops believe in helping with the paperwork and they’ll help you get the licenses.
When you’re at the gun shop, one thing you want to always remember is if you have gun on you, first of all you make sure it’s always unloaded. You don’t want to bring a gun into a gun shop and take it out. They don’t like that. if there are guns there, do not touch them unless you’re talking to a salesman and they give you the gun, they allow it. Don’t ever load a gun, also, while you’re there. That’s a big no-no at a gun shop. And that’s about it.
The gun shop is like any other store. You go in, you talk to the people, you find out what you want and get it and enjoy. And that’s basic gun shop etiquette.
