Today we’re going to talk about how to shoot the Smith & Wesson 357 Magnum.
This is the Smith & Wesson 357 Magnum 4 inch barrel revolver. The first thing you need to do is open the cylinder. Slide the cylinder lock forward here and push the cylinder out.
Once the cylinder’s out you’re going to load your bullets. Put them in each hole here. Rotate the cylinder to make it easy for yourself. Once the rounds are loaded in, close the cylinder and lock it in place. Now the gun is loaded.
From here, you take your stance. The way you grip this gun is the shooting hand goes around the handle like this. Be sure to keep your trigger finger out of the trigger guard until it’s time to shoot. Your support hand is going to wrap over your fingers.
In this particular gun, unlike automatics, you can cross your fingers if you like because there’s no slide to go back. I prefer to put my thumbs together lithis.
From here you’re going to take your stance.
This gun fires two ways. The first way you can fire the gun is you can lock the hammer back. From there you’re in single action mode and it’s a little more accurate and easier to shoot. Get your sight alignment. Gently squeeze the trigger. And the gun goes off. You can do that again. Fire.
The other way to fire this gun will be in double action mode which means you pull the trigger back and as you can see the hammer is coming back and you’ve got to pull the hammer both ways each time.
And with a revolver, it’s not going to lock back like an automatic to know you’re empty. So if you’re not counting your shots you could always pull the trigger again and pull it again and pull it again until the gun is empty.
From there, you’re going to push forward on the release and release your cylinder. The little plunger here will help you. When you push forward, it drops all the rounds right out of the gun.
Being sure that they’re all out and the gun is empty, you can inspect it. Close it up. Now the gun is safe to put down.
