How to Assemble a Smith & Wesson .45

Transcript

Today we’re going to talk about how to assemble the Smith & Wesson 45 caliber pistol Model 4516.

First step you need to do is you take your slide, you’re going to put the barrel back on the slide. This is done by sliding the front of the barrel in, just letting it seed right in the magazine well like this. Once it’s seeded, you want to replace the spring.

The spring is replaced by, you take the end of the spring, the loose end, and you’re going to slide it into this hole here and you’re going to compress the spring all the way until the spring sits in the little groove on the bottom of the barrel.

Once that’s done, you want to put the slide back on to the front. This is done by lining them up. Line up the grooves on the frame to the slots on the side and slowly slide it back.

As you get to the rear, you’re going to notice these little levers that come out. You need to push them down on both sides. And work it slowly back.

Once you’re over them, you want to gently bring the slide back with one hand and hold it in place and replace your slide release lever. You have to work the slide a little back and forth to find that perfect spot where it goes through. Snap this into place and that will lock the slide.

Now you can rack the gun and test it and make sure it fires.

From there you reinsert your magazine and your Smith & Wesson 45 is assembled.

That’s how to reassemble the Smith & Wesson 45 caliber pistol.
