Green Living with Alegre

Transcript

Hi. My name’s Alegre Ramos and I am a sustainable living expert based in Los Angeles. I teach classes, I do consulting, and I do public speaking all about the topic of sustainable living, which means to me living your most creative, your most connected, most conscious community-oriented courageous life possible. And my goal is to inspire, inform, and motivate people on how to do the same for themselves. My life has been a constant quest of seeking out the most authentic life possible for me and that has involved a lot of trial and error, trying out different things, seeing what works.

I wasn’t always the way I am now. I actually gave up soda when I was about 11 years old, when I discovered the effects of it on teeth. When I was 18 I actually gave up nail polish and hair color. I’ve actually had my nails painted twice in my adulthood, once for my wedding and once for today. I’ve just been constantly improving my life, usually because of something bad that happens. For instance, when I was in college I became very, very ill. I lived on a diet of frozen pizzas and breakfast cereals. And I was sick all the time. And that really led me on to my path of healthy eating. Professionally, my voyage began on this journey about ten years ago when I was studying interior design and I decided to focus on Energy-efficient and Environmental Design.

I then opened a store and I had a store for many years that sold all things eco-friendly from mattresses to toys to paints and clothing. And through my experience there and the classes that I would hold there, I decided that I really wanted to focus more on the education side of sustainable living because I really feel like the only way that true change will happen in this world is if lots of us make little changes. It’s been a step-by-step process in getting to the point where I’m at now, but I really feel like I am healthier than I was in my teens or twenties. I have more energy and I just feel like I’m living the life that I’m supposed to be living. For more about this type of information you can visit my website EmberLiving.com and my Youtube channel youtube.com/emberliving where you can find all sorts of quick, actionable videos and tips. I keep them two minutes or under so you can go there for a quick dose of inspiration and information to help you go out and lead your most authentic life possible and help you go out and be a spark in the world. And this green living series is just designed to give you little bits of information on how to green everything from your diet to your baby to your household cleaning products.

And what I encourage you to do is to take it one step at a time. Don’t be overwhelmed by this information. Just consider this a little bit inspiration to make little changes in your life and you will transform your relationship with the planet, your health, everything by following these little tips.
